Now, if they don't want to sound as complete hypocrites, they should say they are in favor of a heavily regulated capitalism - you know, capitalism with just wages, health insurance, protections for the environment, etc.

Pure communism has been tried and failed. We can incorporate elements of communism within a capitalist system - think Social Security and Medicare - but as a system on its own it doesn't work because it kills all private enterprise and ingenuity.

One of the reasons Capitalism beats Socialism is pricing, the secret sauce that allows buyers to communicate with sellers, telling them what they like.

Musicians don't have to think about prices. They they always have buyers right in front of them, communicating what they like. Play a good riff, and the buyers shout their approval at the speed of sound. Tell them to wave their hands in the air like they just don't care, and you can see the reaction at the speed of light.
