Agreed. I can't understand how some people can just "forget" all the great things God has done for them and spurn the faithful. I hope that in the future Jesus will open their poor misguided minds.

I know! Why, the entire Old Testament is full of stories about people who forgot the great things God has done for them. In the Etheldreda home, we refer to the Old Testament as The Story Of Those Stupid Jews.

By the way, you are most welcome to introduce yourself HERE so we can greet you properly and get to know you!

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Not a lot has changed really! The New Testament just added "cowardly" and "Christ-killing" to their list of flaws.
But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy. (2 Chronicles 36:16)

Pastor Jones has so comprehensively laid out the reasons given by God for our perfection. When the scum arrive with their naked assertions like Well you aren't and stuff, I wonder from whence commeth their definitions of Christian or perfect or even God.

What is their standard of perfection?

They never submit one. They never back up anything with a reliable source [HINT: quoting from Aleister Crowley ot nutbag MacGregor Mathers or Madame Blavatsky is not a reliable source or even a source at all, except if wishing to demonstrate what sort of rubbish they write].

              EXAMPLE
(Note to Pastor Jones: I am not about to quote Blavatsky, Crowley or MacGregor Mathers)

              OK, here's some Velikovsky:
He claims that Venus is a piece of Jupiter bust off and flung thither.
              Why?
Because of numerous legends and observations from antiquity.

EVIDENCE (of what Velikovsky claims - i.e. something he wrote himself
this is not evidence for Venus thither flung
it is evidence of what he wrote)
"..wars in the celestial sphere that took place in historical times. In these wars the planet earth participated too.
"..The historical-cosmological story of this book is based in the evidence of historical texts of many people around the globe, on classical literature, on epics of the northern races, on sacred books of the peoples of the Orient and Occident, on traditions and folklore of primitive peoples, on old astronomical inscriptions and charts, on archaeological finds, and also on geological and paleontological material."
              Worlds In Collision 1950

Now it is obvious at once to any Christian that this man is mad. Churchgoers who think the guy is rational or even inspired are not Christians, it follows. Mathematicians have examined his ideas impartially, taking the whole lot on board and working it all out for themselves as a form of entertainment I suppose, including Christian mathematicians. There is a major problem with the maths. It is the current postulated orbit of Venus, that is to say as given by Velikovsky. Apparently there are numerous other problems too (maths problems that is; I will come to other problems at once).

Next up: Geology. One of his claims is that the plagues of ancient Egypt were alien organisms (and gravel) sucked off Venus as it zoomed past the Earth, in his model. Notice in particular his reliance on

historical texts — classical literature — epics — sacred books — traditions — folklore — old astronomical inscriptions/charts

..therefore we might expect to see some of those quoted, in particular he goes on about Venus not appearing on ancient Chinese star charts so at least I would be extremely interested to see some of those.

MORE EVIDENCE (of what he wrote)
"I have excludedall references to ancient literature, traditions, and folklore; and this I have done with intent, so that careless critics cannot decry the entire work as ‘tales and legends.’ Stones and bones are the only witness."
              Earth in Upheaval 1956

This is a whole new dimension of nutter. Cite the actual sources? Nope. Why not? Coz youse will all say I'm mad. Evidence I have posted supports the case that Velikovsky was totally off his onion, farther flung even than his Venus from his Zeus.
Because it is stuff he wrote himself.
But gat we a jot from Matafakin' Ateist above to support that proposition? Not on your Nellie. Down it was plonked, take it or leave it:
I think I will leave it.
And nutter goes "oVictoryVictoryGloatPreen" yet ignorant, that without evidence words become more empty than the hand that mocked them and the heart that fed. Matafakin's visage must be more than half sunk, Pastor, by now mere bubbles in the quicksand

Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Heb 10:26-27 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

If a True Christian™ were to commit just one sin, he would have nothing to look forward to but an eternity of torment. Just as well we cannot sin (1 Jn 3:9). But I'm so glad the author of Hebrews took the time to tell us what would happen, hypothetically, if we sinned.

The author of Hebrews? By that you mean Paul, right? Well, Paul also wrote Galatians, and here's what he had to say there:

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Galatians 6:1

Why do true Christians need to fear temptation if they cannot sin? How can someone be restored to righteousness if he or she were not righteous then backslid? And, for the record, I think the people of Landover should carefully consider what it means to restore someone to the faith in the spirit of meekness.

Also, consider the message to the Church in Ephesis in Revelation:

I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Revelation 2:2-5

Here we see God welcoming back to the fold a Christian church that has backslid. And they'd better listen, too, because otherwise God will deprive them of their candlestick. What more proof do you need that everyone can partake of salvation?
...as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14 (emphasis mine)

Traditionally, authorship of Hebrews is attributed to Paul. Ultimately, it is all God's Word and inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Tim 3:16).

Why do true Christians need to fear temptation if they cannot sin?
Salvation is not something to be taken for granted. On the one hand we know we cannot lose our salvation.

                                Jn 10:27-29
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

And Paul describes our salvation as a sure and certain thing.

                                Rom 8:38-39
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Yet he also warns us that it's possible to deceive ourselves into thinking we are saved.

1 Cor 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

If you fall, you were obviously never really standing to begin with; you only thought you were. While we are more than conquerors (Rom 8:37), we should also remember that Jesus saved us just barely enough to escape the fires of hell.

1 Pet 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

This is good reason to fear even though our salvation is certain. Just as the author of Hebrews -- Paul, if you will -- tells us what would hypothetically happen if we sinned just once (Heb 10:26-27), even though that's impossible (1 Jn 3:9), so he also tells us what would hypothetically happen if we lost our salvation, even though that is also impossible (Jn 10:27-29).

                                Heb 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
