Well, since no one has ever visited the sun it is impossible to give a definite answer, but the Bible gives us several possible explanations:

1. Fire does not actually need to burn something to be fire, it is totally separate from its fuel, if any fuel is necessary at all.

Exodus 3:2
And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

Science
A super hot gas discharged from a nozzel will produce a flame even though no combustion takes place. Anything can be heated to a plasma stage by magnetic resonance, especially if there is some iron mixed in to get things started.

2. The sun is attached to the firmament (the dome covering the earth) and following Boyle's law (gases expand to fill the container they're in) there will be just as much oxygen at the sun as there is down on earth.

Genesis 1:16-17
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

Science
The motion of gases also causes them to expand and fill their container, giving them a volume equal to that of their container. If they did not strike the sides of the container, they would continue on in a straight path.

So as you can see both the inerrant Word of God and science say that the Sun is perfectly capable of burning, either through magnets, gas nozzles or oxygen. Experimental verification (looking through the window) shows that the sun does indeed burn.

Concluding, it is clear your hypothesis that the sun cannot be made of coal because it cannot burn and therefor the sun does not exist has been proven false, while science proves that the KJV Bible is 100% correct and true.

The Sun could be made out of asbestos and if God wanted it to burn forever without being consumed He could make it so. How is this difficult to understand. Why does it even matter what the Sun is made out of.

I really do get fed up with this fuzzy thinking. We KNOW that the Sun is within the Earth's atmosphere and therefore has plenty of oxygen.

How do we know this?

Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

So there is water above the firmament of heaven.

So the Sun, moon and stars are in the firmament and the water is above.

Now during the flood the windows of Heaven were opened. This allowed the water above the firmament to drop to Earth.

Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

So the water poured down between the Sun, moon and planets and fell to Earth.

When this happened there was less weight on the atmosphere because of the reduced water above the firmament. This reduced the concentration of oxygen. That is why people no longer live for 900 years and lizards no longer live long enough to become 'dinosaurs'. Creation Scientist Kent Hovind has a video that will explain it to you.

For the atmosphere to be compressed it had to go all the way up to the firmament and therefore past the Sun.

If this was not the case then there would be no reason why people don't live for 900 years now. Also the dinosaurs that went on the ark would still be with us at their full size.

This is all very basic stuff. You should do a bit of research rather than just get spoon fed silly stories in your science classes,

Yes. If the sun were a nuclear reaction, it would have to be further away. Since it is made from coal, 500 miles is about right.

That is the most likely option, but of course we can't be 100% sure as no one can go close enough to confirm it. Here is one of my post about the matter in different thread.

Once again, brother Jack, very informative post.

I actually printed out those pictures, and continued lines of the sunbeams on top of the picture. After I calculated in scale the point where these lines crossed I noticed something interesting.
We all know that sun is no higher than 500 miles. However, the point where these drawn out lines of sunbeams crossed was at height of 513,7 miles.

This made me think. I have always thought that sun is flat round disk like the earth. This however would not fit in line with these drawn out lines. It was then when I realized that sun may have slightly convex bottom. That would explain the crossing point of the sunbeams as I will demonstrate in picture later.

I think the bottom of the sun is made out of mesh of long but thing metal rods or beams. Because metal turns bright yellow when heated, this mesh could not be seen from earth against the burning coal. This way burning coal would easily stay in the sun and shine light downwards on broader area than just flat bottomed disk. Adding fresh coal on top of the sun sun would still be easy and convenient for God.

This would also explain why sun is 500 miles away, and why crossing point of the sunbeams is higher than sun itself.

The problem with all your attempts to explain the true nature of the Sun to these simpletons is that they are fixed on one idea to the exclusion of all contradictory evidence.

So when you point out to them that there is testimony from the very God who made the Firmament and the Sun of how it actually is they just stick their heads in the sand and start blethering on about how the sun is really a huge ball of really hot gas millions of miles in diameter.

In their next breath they'll tell you that all gases expand to fill the available space - which according to them is this massive empty universe.

If that's not a contradiction I don't know what is, but as usual they just make something else up or twist one of their other ideas until they can blot out the truth and go on believing their silly ideas.

We don't know what the sun is made of because how do you get close to it to find out? You'd burn.

We do know, however, that the two lights are in the firmament.

It's difficult to get good data on the firmament because all the scientists want to do is say it doesn't really exist, which can't be true because then God would be lying about how He made the world. I know, totally silly, right!

Also, by your reckoning, that would mean Mount Everest would stick up above the firmament if it was only 5 miles away.
