The point is that the reason the balloon experiment fails to prove that people in the Southern Hemisphere of the Earth would fall off is not because of a lack of gravity from the balloon, but because the Earth's gravity is so much stronger.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:28 KJV)

But the Bible says the earth is flat, and Rev Osborne's experiments prove it.

Rev 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

Your theories aren't backed up by Scripture.

I believe that scripture is meant to be more allegorical than literal, with the four corners of the Earth being the four cardinal directions. I work everyday with the orbits of satellites and spacecraft around the Earth and moon, and these orbits only work because of the spherical shape of the Earth and its gravity.

It's one of my favorite verses. "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it." This is what inspired me to go after my dreams of space exploration and to study engineering so that I could better understand the inner workings of God's creation.

Are any of your science books inspired by God? No, I didn't think so. But the Bible is, so it's 100% trustworthy. I prefer to get my information from a source with real authority (i.e. divine inspiration and the threat of eternal damnation).

Where does the Bible encourage people to go after their dreams? The Bible tells us to forsake all to follow Jesus.

The part where God commands us as Christians to subdue the Earth seems to tell us to the physical processes that God set into motion for good. And in order to do that we must first learn how it works.

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: (Isaiah 40:22 KJV)
I've seen several people use this to say the Earth is a flat disc, but interestingly if you look at the Hebrew it was originally written in, ח֣וּג, or chuwg, while literally translated does mean circle, is almost always used in reference to spherical objects.

God intended it to mean what it says. Our all-knowing, all-powerful God is quite capable of writing a book that everyone can understand. There are only small portions of the Bible that are not meant to be taken literally, such as the parables, and even they are clearly designated as such (Mat 13:34). If God's Word was mostly allegorical, don't you think He would have told us, just in case some people took it too literally? He could have put in a short disclaimer in Genesis 1. And if it's allegorical, you have the problem of finding the right interpretation. How do you interpret it? How do you know if you have the right interpretation? How do you know whether someone else's interpretation is wrong?

Why do we have to understand how it works? For the better part of 6,000 years man hasn't understood how the world works, but that hasn't stopped him from subduing the planet.

You seem to be implying that man has never known how anything works. Man is constantly learning more and more of how the universe works, even 6,000 years ago man was learning. 6,000 years ago mankind had already discovered one of the tools we currently use to launch objects off of the Earth and into orbit. Fire, the same thing that kept people warm and cooked their food; it just took awhile for humans to learn to use it to move things.

I used this verse because I've seen several people use it in their argument that the Earth is flat. If it is allegory then why are we arguing, if it is literal then because of a translation error you're on the wrong side.

Well, just because they named the spaceship Apollo doesnt mean they accepted Apollo religion. They are atheists.

On the other hand, Apollo was the Sun riding his chariot, thus a stationary Earth model was accepted by the ancients.

Finally, I dont think he is a silly notion, since he has many characterictics that were expressed in the person of our Savior Lord Jesus Christ.

Of course we must be humble to accept our mistakes instead of sins.

Doing and understanding mistakes is a necessary part in the investigation of truth. And just because we have made errors, doesnt follow our opponents are right. We may have made errors in our arguments we can correct, we may even have made false arguments, but there are many arguments we can use. Even if we have made false, these are not the only ones.

So atheists must not be so quick to deride us.

I believe in stationary Earth, geocentric model and I am just discovering Flat Earth belief, very interesting.

Hello, and welcome to our friendly forums! I do have a question, if you don't mind.

God tells us to correctly handle the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15), but if you believe some of the Bible is allegorical, how do you know what is correct? How do you determine which parts to read as literally True, and which parts to dismiss as allegorically true? How do you explain the fact that other people, who similarly consider themselves followers of Christ, determine different truths, some of which are diametrically opposed to each other?

The fact is, the Lord Jesus Christ interpreted Scripture literally because this is how it is meant to be used (and He should know, being the Author Himself). For example, when Jesus was tempted by Satan in Luke 4, He answered by quoting the Old Testament. If God’s commands in Deuteronomy 8:3, 6:13, and 6:16 were not literal, Jesus would not have used them and they would have been powerless to stop Satan. Are you suggesting you know better than Jesus which parts of the Holy Bible to accept as written?

The Disciples accepted Scripture literally. Jesus commanded the Disciples to go and make more disciples in Matthew 28:19-20. In Acts 2 and following, we find that the Disciples took Jesus' command literally and went throughout the known world preaching the gospel of Christ and telling them to "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31). Just as the Disciples took Jesus’ words literally, so must we. How else can we be sure of our Salvation© if we do not believe Him when He says He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), pay the penalty for our sin (Matthew 26:28), and provide eternal life (John 6:54)?

You see, when you make yourself the final arbiter of which parts of the Bible are to be interpreted literally, you attempt to elevate yourself above God. Who is to say that your interpretation of a biblical event or truth is any more or less valid than another’s? The confusion and distortions that inevitably result from such a system is why we have some 40,000 denominations of "Christianity" throughout the world, each one arguing with, disagreeing with, and dismissing the validity of the others. Essentially, this renders the Scriptures null and void. It's useless, for it reduces the Scriptures to a mere mental, philosophical, and moral Rorschach Test that exposes the thoughts of any one individual. It is therefore of paramount importance that the Bible be allowed to speak for God, and not for individuals.

You might as well accuse the LORD of being sloppy, or worse, apathetic in presenting the Truth to mankind. Our dear Pastor Zeke, who is extraordinarily well-versed in the Biblical sciences, has a helpful guide: Seven easy ways to tell the True Bible from the false ones. Our dear Pastor Billy-Reuben has another sermon you might find equally informative. He offers Biblical support for the practice of ignoring your conscience and adopting a lifestyle of obedience instead: Follow the Word of God, not your "conscience."

I hope these help. Please do consider putting away your "science," as it is naught but Satan's tool to dupe you into thinking you can interpret life through the lens of rational thinking, and we know God hates rational thinking.

I believe no matter if Helios or Earth rotate, no matter if Earth is flat or sphere,
heliocentrists and space theorists try to create the impression were just another planet(something common) among the trillions of them existing in trillion of galaxies. This is their effort.

For us its physical to believe Earth does not move. We are HERE, this is our true point of view and nothing cant change it. Atheists try to take a look from God's standpoint.

As for the 3 arguments in page 1, I believe the first two appeal to the belief the Earth does not move instead of the Earth being flat.

Many people answered that if we JUMP we return to the same position and not miles away, because the core of the Earth(something they have never seen) and everything upon it travel at a constant speed (without acceleration or slowing down). Sounds logical. But the fallacy rests on the fact that these people have BEGUN with the ASSUMPTION that the Earth moves. Just because we fall back in the position we jumped does not follow that the Earth rotates at a constant speed. This can also happen in a stationary Earth.

One of the inherent flaws of human language is that words can have many meanings. Despite the word in the original Hebrew meaning a spherical object, the translator used circle to support MAN's then current theory of the world being flat.

If science is Satan's tool, why are you on a computer? Computers are the creation of electical engineers and physicists, science is what makes your computer run. By using a computer you are using science. Science is merely man's understanding of the physical laws which God created.

You say that God hates rational thinking, but if you follow His teachings because the alternative is hell you are, yourself, using rational thinking.

"Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions." -Albert Einstein
