Is there any convincing reason to think the moon is other than as described in Genesis 1?

You aren't exactly giving me any compelling reason why I should think of the moon in any other way than in Genesis 1. I appreciate that you want to feel persecuted here, but it really was a simple question.

Jesus Himself wasn't attempting to bring people together.

Matthew 10:34-36
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

If you want to know about the moon, read the Bible. If you want to know about giants and unicorns and demons and daughters being sacrificed because of bargains made with God, read the Bible (it really is a great story full of wonders). It's all in there and you're in for a surprise. You'll soon believe in God as much as I do.

God does not offer a warm and fuzzy life. He requires we follow strict rules. The payoff occurring after death.
See friend, if you do nothing, you will go to Hell. If you disobey God, you will go to Hell. If you follow His word as written in the KJV Holy Bible, you might go to heaven.
This glimmer of hope is what you get to carry around with you all day long to offset the misery and horrors of human life. One heck of an amazing deal.

I told you what Christianty is about. It is about being provided the poortunity to be good enough for God to consider you worthy of joining with Him in Heaven.

Think about it. You will live for maybe 90 years. God created teh Earth over 6,000 years ago. So your puny little 90 years is nothing. The Earth will go on for ever (assuming we do not really upset God) and eternity. So do you miserable 90 years mean anything when compared to eternity. What if God were to get tired of all the heathens on Earth and simply make 'it go away'. What do you want to happen to your soul?

I put my faith in the facts of God and He told us in no uncertain terms that if we wanted to be in His good graces, we had better be Christians.
