    Need Biblical help (Jonah)

I was witnessing to an unsaved boy yesterday and I explained the fact that one of God's days are equal to a thousand years of human time. I explained to him that God said Jesus would be back in a couple of days (two thousand years) so it could be anytime now. I then told him that the seven day creation was seven thousand human years. Well, the young lad then asked me if Jonah was really in the big fish for three days (three thousand years). I was a bit taken back by the question. Should I try to convince him that Jonah was actually in the fishes stomach for three thousand years or play the dreaded metaphor card on this one?

The days referred to in Jonah's case are man-days because it is the action of a man (Jonah.)

They other two cited actions are God-Days since they are discussing God actions (God's creation and God's return.)

Friend, I think your math is a bit off. Since we know that the earth is only about 6,100 years old, your theory can't be right.

It would be heresy to even suspect that any part of the Bible were other than true and accurate.

Many false Christians say they are inspired by Jesus to know when any passage from KJV should be taken metaphorically. They claim to be "inspired by God" when making these distinctions - however, you will invariably find that whatever their translation or claim, it strangely coincides with their own beliefs.

A variation on this theme is that they explain by added 'facts' that they claim are granted to their soul by God or have been said by some "expert". It will be found that the "expert" either never said this or he is no "expert". It will also be found that these added facts have no evidence for them at all.

Beware of these false prophets for they will lead your soul to the Gates of Hell.

It is ludicrous to suspect that the Ruler of The Universe could not make Himself clearly understood and require those of reprobate mind to do His Work in such an important matter.

Save where the Bible says that it is a parable or starts with "It is as if..." (or similar), you may rest assured that it is the absolute Word of God and that is exactly what He meant.

I'll see if I can convince the boy that Jonah spent just under half the earth's age in the tuna. I've already convinced him of harder to swallow biblical stories at this point anyway, so it should be a piece of cake. Thank you Jesus! (and Pastor Ezekiel!)
