In order to defeat my argument that all wars are about money, I was being asked demanding questions. Do you support this approach?

One war I was asked about was Viet Nam. The US feared the Domino Effect: if Viet Nam fell to the Communists, the whole region would fall under USSR domination and become a market for Soviet goods and services (including military hardware).

Earlier I was told to read a Wikipedia article about Saddam Hussein. Eventually I had my attention drawn to parts of the article that drew attention to the financial causes of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. Before that I was assured that Iraq was already a market for US goods and services, although in fact Saddam used Soviet made Scud missiles.

If anyone wants to dispute the proposition that all wars are about money, I would be grateful if they would deal with the argument rather than employ devices that circumvent the issue in question. I take all evasions to be a rather unkind way of admitting that all wars are about money.

Is that okay?

What, to a woman? Should you not be learning, from your guardian (father, husband, etc.), about matters relevant to your station in life, such as cooking, looking after children, cleaning and gardening?

Which resources were the US Civil War, and the Viet Nam War, about? If oil is so important, why are there no US troops in Nigeria?

If war is not always about money, as you claim, why did Saddam invade Kuwait? As the article you quoted says, "Saddam urged the Kuwaitis to forgive the Iraqi debt accumulated in the war, some $30 billion, but they refused."

Which resources were the US Civil War, and the Viet Nam War, about? If oil is so important, why are there no US troops in Nigeria?

If war is not always about money, as you claim, why did Saddam invade Kuwait? As the article you quoted says, "Saddam urged the Kuwaitis to forgive the Iraqi debt accumulated in the war, some $30 billion, but they refused."
