Anyone who identifies as a Christian (about 78% of Americans by the latest surveys), goes to church, gives offerings or tithes to that church, at least condones this thinking, because it's all straight from the Bible (notice how the quoted Scripture links directly to an online copy), their Holy Book, the revealed Word of God.

The Bible reads as a contract, between you and God. Conditions (and penalties for non-compliance) are explicitly stated. It says you have to believe and behave 100% as instructed, or God will deny you eternal life. Anyone who says, "Oh, just ignore that part, it was for the 'old days'", is lying to you.

Read it for yourself here. If you can find anything that the people here have "twisted" or misrepresented, please say so.
