I am a 19 year old girl. I have been drawing ever since I can remember and I really have a special talent for it. I love drawing people, creating characters, creating my own fictional worlds and everyone praises me for my talent. I am also very smart. My parents taught me how to read when I was merely 4 and I went to school a year earlier than children normally do. I have always been top of my class. Right now I am taking a major in computer science, since I'm also really good at maths and love everything related with technology. Do you think I'm going to hell for this? Should I just drop everything that was meant for me to become and resignate myself to my position as a woman, according to the Bible? Also, am I offending God by creating beautiful art that other people enjoy?

Re: Should I ignore my talents?
I have a computer science degree as well as an accounting degree. The accounting degree comes in handy when working on the family budget, and the other courses I took help me to homeschool my children.
Personally I see no problem with education as long as it doesn't get in the way of you finding a husband and starting a family. I know some will disagree with me on this, but I want my boys well educated, unlike the illiterate fools the public system is pumping out.Drama queen

Re: Should I ignore my talents?
I see. As much as my common sense forces me to agree with you, doesn't the Bible teach that women must submit to their husbands and let them be their heads? Isn't the fact that I might be smarter and more well educated than my husband a little problematic? I fear it's too late for me now, for I am used to be the leading mind and it will be very hard for me to learn submission. How can I overcome this? I really don't want to go to hell, I hate hot environments

Re: Should I ignore my talents?
Who ever said an intelligent woman cannot submit? Have you ever read Proverbs 31? Does that sound like a stupid woman to you? Personally I think my own problems with submission had to do with age more than education. I was well set in my ways when I was finally blessed with a husband. On the other hand, it may have to do with Seth being on the road most days of the week. It's very difficult to go from head of the house M-F and then submitting on weekends.Originally posted by NoPancakeMix View PostI see. As a wife you will have duties that you will have to perform. My husband does not want to deal with the household budget. I am given a monthly allowance and expected to make it last. Could you imagine the embarrassment if I ran out of money on the 25th? Out of that money I am also responsible for clothing the boys, caring for the dogs and having a little tucked away for emergencies as my husband is on the road a lot of the time. A good Christian woman also homeschools her children. If you have sons, how will you teach them if you don't have an education yourself?Drama queen

If your username is any indication, you must certainly be a good cook!
Gals your age usually haven't mastered the art of a good home made batter so that too must be one of the gifts God has given to you.
It is obvious too that you have a natural God given talent for the arts, and as such, why do you think God would NOT want you to use the talents he has given you, especially if you are expressing your self with your art with The Lord well in mind.
No one doubts that the female member of the Body of Christ has many important and valuable functions to perform: help meet for her husband or future husband, mother of her children, friend of others in the Church, and support functions too numerous to mention both in and out of the home.
The Bible plainly states that women have, in the past, served as prophets as shown below:
Luke 2:36:
And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity.
Acts 21:9
And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
Some even ministers, helping powerful evangelists to better learn the Way:
Acts 18:26
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
Women are also destined to serve again as prophets in the end times.
Acts 2:17-18
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
I suppose my point is, The Lord gave these women specific talents and was their duty to God to utilize them, just as it is yours. Who is to say you cannot serve God better with these additional skills? As Sister Believer In God has beautifully pointed out, she has tertiary education up her sleeve and if anything those things have helped her keep her sights firmly on God and family. I have a tertiary education in Theological Study and also Psychology.
We are not meant to remain ignorant.
If your father (if you are not married) or your husband (if you are) have no problem with you pursuing this study and your art, then it should be fine.
There has to be a balance though. That has to be remembered. The duty to God and the Church, your husband and home, should take priority.
I hope that helped.
YIC,
Mrs.P.Wintersnow.
PS. I could possibly use your gift of art for something I have been working on for the Church. I would be interested in perhaps chatting with you about it at a time convenient for us both.
There's Jesus here,
Just see what He offers me....
Down here my sins forgiven,
Up there a home in heaven
Praise God, That's the way for me!!

Re: Should I ignore my talents?
You are absolutely right, thank you for your guidance! I have little knowledge of the scriptures, forgive me. Re: Should I ignore my talents?
Why don't I hear anything about your church in your introduction? Where is Jesus in your life? Why aren't you busy perfecting your pie crusts, and popping out sons for your husband?Originally posted by NoPancakeMix View PostI am a 19 year old girl. Re: Should I ignore my talents?
Sounds like a very self-glorifying post to me.
I am so very good at drawing! I am so very good at math! I am so talented and wonderful! Yet, not ONCE do you stop to admire God's creations and talents (which are way better than yours), like He wants you to. It's all about you, isn't it?
O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. - Isaiah 25:1

Re: Should I ignore my talents?
NEVER stop making you're own art!
Art is what makes you different then the others.
Express what you see!
You are what you are! if you're an artist then do what you're heart tell you to do.
Never ever give that up!
God will never make you stop creating art!
A good artist will be known for 100's of years!
Hope you will achieve that level!!If this is you're way of trying to make me believe in a false god, well you failed again.

I didn't say it that way, so don't go twisting it! I'm just being honest, or at least saying what people have been saying about me all these years. If God himself gave me that talent, shouldn't he be happy that I put it to use?

Re: Should I ignore my talents?
Obviously it wasn't God who gave you the talent. It was Satan, trying to keep you away from your womanly role and turn you into a lesbian. You need to guard against the temptations of art and the art community to get you to move to California and start worshipping Satan. You know how much God hates France? He hates French artists most of all! By being an artist you say you are better than God, because God is the only creator!Originally posted by NoPancakeMix View Post
