I would appreciate some help here! Apparently, I said that my youngest granddaughter could go to the movies with me this evening. Mrs Bathfire, who is given to imagining things, says I had promised to take her (i.e. Mrs Bathfire) to the movies this evening. As a result, a compromise was reached and Mrs Bathfire has taken Ruth to the movies. Now this looked as if to would be a quiet evening for me, until Mrs Bathfire asked if I had considered Ruth’s homework! (To be frank, I hadn’t) Under the circumstances, I had little choice but to agree to do it for her and lose more time on my latest publication, “The Words of the Bible in Alphabetical Order”.
Apparently Ruth’s school “The Fiery Cross Junior High for the Daughters of True Christians” does not accept answers like “God did it” and “It’s a Mystery”, so I am looking for your help.
Here’s the question:
Some Democrats say that the Signatories to The Declaration of Independence were not Christian, and that they disregarded the Word of God when it suited them. Rebut the following arguments:
1. Were the Signatories objecting to tax?
M't:22:17: Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
M't:22:18: But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
M't:22:19: Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
M't:22:20: And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
M't:22:21: They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
M't:22:22: When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
2. Were the Signatories objecting to the rule of George III?
Heb:13:17: Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
3. Did the Signatories think they would be better off?
Rom:2:8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
4. Did the Signatories take power for themselves?
Galatians 5:19-21 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: […], selfish ambition, dissensions, […] and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
The sooner you send your ideas, the sooner I can get on with my project!
