I don't think you actually know what "divination" means.

    Serious question: are you retarded?

Divination is the practice of making decisions or foretelling the future by means of reading signs and omens.

How does making a wish fit that definition?

Agreed. Maybe he's a foreigner or something.

"Divination: the art or practice that seeks to foresee or foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge usually by the interpretation of omens or by the aid of supernatural powers" (source).

Is this what you were doing on your birthday, dear? Because that's something we do not do, sweetie!

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

The dictionary should be your friend, dear.

"Sorcery: the use of power gained from the assistance or control of evil spirits especially for divining" (source).

"Magic: a power that allows people (such as witches and wizards) to do impossible things by saying special words or performing special actions" (source).

Do you often evoke evil spirits via some obscure incantations when you wish somebody a "happy birthday?"

I'm sorry, but that just sounds weird!

Friend, you can wish all you want. We pray!
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Correlation is not causation, dear. Please provide evidence that blowing candles on a birthday cake is, in fact, the magic action which purpose is to fulfill a wish. Because out of several hypotheses (that I'm aware of) on the origin of the blowing candles custom, none suggests a magical action that you are implying.

Two, why do you assume that every person who does celebrate their birthday blows out candles and makes wishes?

Also, there is the little matter of the fact that even Jesus received birthday gifts (Matthew 2:11). If He celebrated His birthday, why cannot we celebrate ours?

That sort of making a wish is a prayer, an appeal to God, or at worst, a hope. It is not an incantation to Satan or false gods. Where did you come across such rubbish?
And celebration of a birthday does not necessarily involve a cake with candles and blowing them out, let alone making a wish while blowing them out. I think the last time I did that was when I was 9 years old, but I still celebrate my birthday each year.

That the magi brought gifts when Jesus was born doesn't imply that Jesus celebrated birthdays, or any pagan holy days for that matter. That was the occasion when Jesus was born, rather than the annual birthday according to witches custom
The idea that the son of God would celebrate a pagan holy day doesn't fly. The only 2 persons in the Bible stated for sure to celebrate their birthday were 1) Herod and 2) the Egyptian pharaon. Both infidels

Stop. Just STOP! Demosfen, you have completely derailed what was supposed to be a nice birthday thread for one of the sweetest members of our church.

I just thank the Lord Jesus that she has not yet arrived to witness you defecating all over her birthday, because I know she will burst into tears if she sees your hateful posts without first being warned about them.

You should be ashamed of yourself for ruining somebody's birthday.
