  • Northern Italy leaves the rest of Italy

Greetings to the followers of the Church situated in the town of Landover. I know that you might not be interested, but it appears that the Northern part of Italy (Veneto and Lambardy) has been declared an indipendent state from the rest of Italy. It saddens me seeying Italy divided, but i pray that God helps Northern Italian Christians and protects them from Muslims.

    From The Guardian.

Two of Italy’s wealthiest northern regions on Sunday voted overwhelmingly in favour of greater autonomy in the latest example of the powerful centrifugal forces reshaping European politics.

Voters in the Veneto region that includes Venice, and Lombardy, home to Milan, backed more powers being devolved from Rome in votes that took place against the backdrop of the crisis created by Catalonia’s push for independence.
Veneto President Luca Zaia hailed the results, which were delayed slightly by a hacker attack, as an institutional “big bang”. But he reiterated the region’s aspirations were not comparable to the secessionist agenda that has provoked a constitutional crisis in Spain.

Turnout was projected at around 58% in Veneto, where support for autonomy is stronger, and just over 40% in Lombardy. The presidents of each regions said more than 95% of voters who had cast ballots had, as expected, voted for greater autonomy.
The votes are not binding but they will give the right-wing leaders of the two regions a strong political mandate when they embark on negotiations with the central government on the devolution of powers and tax revenues from Rome.
Secessionist sentiment in Veneto and Lombardy is restricted to fringe groups but analysts see the autonomy drive as reflecting the same cocktail of issues and pressures that resulted in Scotland’s narrowly-defeated independence vote, Britain’s decision to leave the EU and the Catalan crisis.
“What this vote has shown is that there is no ‘autonomy party’ in Veneto – what there is is an entire people who back this idea,” said Zaia.
“What’s won is the idea that we should be in charge of our own back yard.”
Lombardy governor Roberto Maroni said he would be looking to present detailed proposals on devolution within two weeks, in a bid to ensure they are considered before national elections due by May next year.

“I will go to Rome and ask for more powers and resources within a framework of national unity,” he said.
Analysts say the northern regions’ enthusiasm for autonomy does not represent a threat to the unity of Italy in the short term.
But they do see it being a disruptive force over coming decades, particularly as the heavily indebted central government can ill afford to forego the net contribution it gets from the country’s most dynamic areas.
“Although not threatening the unity of the state, this process risks opening a Pandora’s box and setting in motion widespread centrifugal forces within Italy,” said economist Lorenzo Codogno.
A former senior official in the finance ministry, Codogno expects the referendums to feed into an ongoing discussion on constitutional reform with the likely outcome being a much more federalised country on the model of Germany, rather than disintegration.
Lombardy and Veneto are home to around a quarter of Italy’s population and account for 30% of its economic output.

With lower unemployment and welfare costs than the Italian average, both regions are large contributors to national government coffers.
Lombardy sends 54 billion euros ($63bn) more in taxes to Rome than it gets back in public spending. Veneto’s net contribution is 15.5 billion euros.
The two regions would like to roughly halve those contributions by repatriating powers in up to 23 different areas.
The two regional presidents, both members of the far right Northern League, notably plan to ask for more say over infrastructure, the environment, health and education.
They also want new powers relating to security issues and immigration – steps which would require changes to the constitution.
    Amen.

    Mr. Rovagnati,

Is this really something new? Isn't Italy in its totality a nation that gained its independence from Rome aka the Vatican some years ago? Wasn't the pre-Garibaldi peninsula of the Apennines just a loose mess of kingdoms and the Papal State before Don Camillo and Peppone divided it between the two most disastrous religions ever invented? I see this as the logical continuation of the short attention span of the Romans but please don't hesitate to correct me if I am wrong.

    Acts 16:21
And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.

Does either one of these new 'nations' care about poor Jesus?

    Yours in Christ,

Obviusly yes, they houses Florence, a town full of arts made by artists such as Michelangelo.

Also Venice is the home of the Patriarch of Venice, the actual one being Francesco Moraglia.

For those of you who are a little unsure of where or what Italy is, this extract from Landover's grade 10 geography book will help:
Italy: A country that sticks southward into the Mediterranean Sea and looks somewhat like a woman's leg.

        Demographic

It is populated in the south by a race of malignant swarthy dwarfs reminiscent of demons and, in the north, by Frenchmen pretending to be German. All are Catholic and steeped in superstition and Mary Worship.

All Italians are famous for retreating in battle, the Mafia and popery.

The entire population are given to hysterics accompanied by much waving of the arms - the women can be distinguished as they are the ones with mustaches.

        Industry:

They also have an automobile industry that produces unreliable red cars that rust quickly.

        Main crop

Olives, the oil of which is used for every conceivable purpose and some that cannot be mentioned within these pages.

        Famous Italians:
        Benito Mussolini
Attempted to bring some order to the country. He managed to make the trains run to schedule and was therefore hanged from a lamppost.

I would expect the Pope to put a stop to this. He needs revenue from the North. I wish that entire country would start reading the Bible.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

I think there must have been a mistranslation. The whole of Italy is not even worth 54 billion of anything, except possibly their old currency, the peso, which was valued at around 54 billion to the dollar. Also they fail to mention that, while "Lombardy sends 54 billion", it's the German tax payers who are bankrolling the entire country with some spare change left over from interest on their Nazi gold. The real money stays in Germany, of course, to pay for BMWs for every Muslim immigrant. This is all factual information I read in the British tabloid newspapers - by the miracle of right-wing capitalist ideals they can afford to give newspapers away and eliminate other news sources. Not funded by Putin's agitprop budget AT ALL!
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

This might be of little significance, but it appears I have some ancestry in the Lombardy region. Whether our family villas are still in our family name is unknown; I don't speak to that side of the pedigree.

The most important question is, "do Italians value freedom?"

Maybe they want to be fascists.

I'm not sure, but I've never heard of "Italian Freedom Fries." So the answer's probably "No."

Pardon me for asking, the details of these things confuse me easily, but what is the difference?

Italian's as a rule are lazy and display little initiative - something that would require an understanding of "freedom". When confronted with their distinguished lack of accomplishment, they like to bask in the dubious glory when one of their own lies on their back on a scaffold all day painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel that some misguided critic called "great art".

Whereas freedom loving Americans value their steaks, Italians slaughter their cattle early to produce some alleged "delicacy" they call "veal". When a nice sunny day arrives, the communist union dock workers find some small excuse to call a strike.

It's no wonder nothing gets done over there, and when some aspiring politician comes along and promises to clean the place up they inevitably vote for them - if they can manage to make it to the voting booth at all. They call this "fascism". Similarly, they've historically been too lazy to read the Bible (KJV1611), preferring instead to leave that to someone else and just listen to their "priests", who in turn are also lazy and wait around for a "pope" to do something.

Lastly, contrary to popular myth Il Duce never did make the trains run on time.

So you're saying it's all about oneupmanship? We have idols of King David made by Michelangelo, you have no idols at all. Our Jesus is better than your Jesus because our Jesus has a pope vs Martin Luther (who isn't a Christian either but you get my point) as exemplified in this little clip I found:

Excellent point sister, but we could talk more about the Italians at great length. It's a great thought to place one man in charge and hold them accountable - much like the Romans did with their Emperors (from which modern day Italians no doubt took the clue from). The problem comes about when everyone comes to tire of them, and things tend to get a little violent when it comes to removing and replacing them. It can be a cushy job and they don't like to leave voluntarily.

We also can't forget those bundled sticks symbols that the Etruscans invented and later adopted by the Romans wherein "fascism" derives its name. You will also find that symbol on many government buildings in Washington D.C. built during the 1930's under the Roosevelt administration.

More in this vein, the Italians must love their Mafia as they just don't seem to be able to rid themselves of them - they even give them the title of "Godfather" (think of Marlon Brando stuffing cotton into his cheeks to talk like one of them).

And of course we can't forget that the Romans had slaves, and not all of them were nigras (and probably very few). With the slaves doing all the work, it's understandable that Italians today are lazy.
