Can someone please illuminate something for me? I thought Jesus told us to love everyone. Why then do I see us bashing atheists? I do not see how insulting them will help our cause. Shouldn't we be praying that they will see the light?

Jesus told us many things.
His message of Love was aimed at other True Christians(tm).
Why do you think that atheists spend an eternity in Hell?

Jesus says to love your neighbor, to love your brother, love your enemies and to love one another (speaking to His apostles).

Matthew 12:47-50 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Only those who show Christian mercy and compassion are our neighbors.

What you call 'bashing' is what we call 'outreaching'. Every one of us is a True Christian(tm) Soldier, battling evil for Jesus. We have the weapons of words to slice through the hatred in the world. Sometimes the words cut and hurt, but it is a pain of love that we give. Let us love you.

How can anyone love an atheists? They are scum who go around pretending to believe in other religions. That's just sick.

I was referring to John 13:34-35: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

To me, this seemed like Jesus wanted us to love everyone. Especially when I took into account the parable in John 8. I guess I misunderstood. I am sorry.

I am trying to adopt the Christian ways. My parents never raised me in a church. I am very new to this. If I am not saved, how can I become saved? I want to find God and am reading my Bible daily.

Jesus was speaking to His disciples, correct?

Was He not telling His disciples to love each other?

Is that not exactly what the text you have quoted says?

It does not say, "all men will know you are my disciples, if you love everybody." It says, "if you love ONE ANOTHER."

Jesus was commanding Christians to love other Christians, not to love people who hate God, like homosexuals and atheists and Muslims.

It would follow then that Jesus was not commanding anyone to love those whom God hates.

Ok first off, you are all stereotypical idiots, you do not know the trues ways of being Christian, this is why I am not a Christian anymore, I am a Agnostic. Which by the way, there are actually a couple of versions of Agnostic. The type of Agnostic I am is, I believe there is a god, but I choose not to worship him. I think it is stupid to worship anything, I see no point in it, I been a Agnostic for about a year or more now, and quiet happy with my life. But do not refer to me as a Atheist, because i believe there is a god, Atheist do not, get your facts straight.

You do not seem to realize it doesn't work like that. Jesus wants you to choose Him for 100%. Everything else will end up with an eternal stay in Hell. The Bible is very clear on this: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man comes to the Father but by Me." (John 14:6) You can only go to Heaven if you repent "Except you repent, you shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3) and if you have faith: "For by grace are ye saved through faith." (Ephesians 2:8).

That's not agnostic, that's purposely spitting in God's eye. Please learn the meanings of words before using them.

That's not agnostic, that's purposely spitting in God's eye. Please learn the meanings of words before using them.

Actually it is Agnostic still, there are more then one type of Agnostic, there are ones such as I believe there is a god, but choose to to worship. There are also ones that is not 100% sure there is one, and will not worship him until there is proof. And last, there is ones that are not sure about what real religion they want to be. I know what i am talking about honey, I took a class for religions, and still am currently studying them.

My reasons for not worshiping him, one, how most Christians are hypocritical or just plain do not know what they are talking about. Two, the horrible life i had in my pass, yes it has gotten better since i went Agnostic. Three, the family I had that shoved it down my throat constantly. And last four, thought it was just plain stupid, but i still respect all peoples religious belief and everything.

And my main question is, is this a Baptist, Catholic, or Lutheran church?, by the looks of things this website is a Lutheran Church I am guessing, could be wrong. But just the way you people judge others, and treat other people is so different from the Church i use to went.
