Wow, what a detective. Did you not see that my original was erased? The point of the post was not author ownership but valid points that I had expanded upon before my comp died. As I said, I will post the rest, but as I am busy and did not want to try rewriting from memory at the time. Do not see the problem and in fact seems much more blatantly obvious that these are truths as many many people have both deliberated and published these thoughts. Elmer only needs what I posted in order to continue our conversation. And it is a bit funny that more often than not your "proofs" are copied from biblical passages that you quote. The point is to debate and spread wisdom lady, not act smart.

Do I tell you that you are unoriginal and guilty of plagiarism when you quote from the bible? no. Because you never said you came up with it, just like I did not. Try focusing on the material not the source. This just seems like an ineffective sidestep in an effort to not look at uncomfortable truths

I am not sure why are you feeling so offensive about it. Did you not read my post? FYI, I clearly wrote that I thought you simply forgot to cite your sources. Hence, I did not accuse you of plagiarism, just of sloppiness.

I was just thinking that it was sadly ironic that Christianity teaches abstinence but Christians have more unsafe sex than those educated in the precautionary methods of safe sex.


I find it doubly ironic that Christians profess the sanctity of marriage, yet Evangelical Christians have among the highest divorce rates in the U.S.


Even more ironic still is the fact that the Catholic Church is thought of as the body of Christ, an extension of his love for us, and yet, child rape runs rampant throughout an obviously corrupted institution.


I find it ironic that End of the World millennialists, like the recent Family Radio nutters, would cause their families so much grief and hardship for stupid beliefs which obviously proved false--yet other Christians ignore them entirely--saying they are fringe--and that they don't represent real Christianity. What compassion! What empathy!


I find it ironic that Christianity is preached as a religion of love, yet never tires of informing you that you will burn in everlasting hellfire if you don't believe it too.


I find it ironic that Christians will jump at the chance to talk with you about your differing beliefs, only to casually and impolitely slip in the fact that everything you believe is false, that they are right, and you are wrong.


It's strange, if not just a little bit ironic, that Christians think the Bible is in anyway reliable, the very bedrock of their pious faith, yet don't follow 90% of what it teaches.


I find it ironic that Christians think the Bible explains things in the natural world better than science, when in truth, that's such a distortion of reality as we know it that to believe such a thing is to prove oneself delusional.

honestly, you need help recognizing that that is from a dictionary? let me be clear, if i want to pass something off as my own I will tell you it is my original thought. again, focus on the material not authorship. I have already sent that Dolores woman a message asking her what the consequences of such blatant plagiarism would be for a student at her secular university. She knows nothing about Jesus, but a fair bit about cheating!

Thank you Mrs. Lytton-Vasey for your kindness. Yes, at any university, students are punished for plagiarizing, the punishment can range from a 0 credit on the plagiarized assignment to being expelled from the university, in case of repeat offenders.

What I am really interested in, however, is Mr. Thomas' definition of plagiarism:

Plagiarism would be turning in work and asking for credit. I am pretty sure we are not in school...

I find it truly fascinating that Mr. Thomas seemed to believe earlier this afternoon that plagiarism is limited to school environment. That leads me to conclusion that we are dealing here with a very young person, possibly a high school student.


Later, he amended his definition of plagiarism by the following:

I am not asking for credit for anything so plagiarism is a ludicrous thing to say. nor am i trying to publish anything, turn into a teacher, or profit.

While Mr. Thomas seems to have expanded a bit his understanding of what is covered by plagiarism, he still seems to be a bit... clueless. He still doesn't understand that EVERY INSTANCE OF COPYING SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK WITHOUT CITING IT does constitute plagiarism, while instances when the source material is copied but properly cited does not constitute plagiarism.


I blame it on the continuous lowering of educational standards in public education, as well as on low teacher salaries.

Because what I find ironic is that the text you provided contains some truths, some half-truths, some omissions, and plenty of over-generalizations, and I bet you could not even analyze that text and see which one is which!

The definition which dolores is trying to use would be considered sophomoric at best and would be what most high school students would attribute to the word. I find it a bit humorous though that when joanna automatically thought of dolores and university and dolores went on to state what it means in a school setting, it was accepted and seen as a natural sigue in the conversation. However, the very quotes of mine that you criticize and attempt to determine my age and education with, covered the very subject you bring up as well as more. The word more, here meaning; Points which actually do more to cover the ACTUAL definition of plagiarism.
