Great disasters struck Iceland between 1400 and 1850. About two-thirds of the people died from the Black Death, which swept Iceland in 1402. Much of the Icelanders' livestock, crops, and farmland were destroyed by lava when volcanoes erupted in the years between 1750 and 1800. People died from not eating in the period from 1783 to 1790.

In the 1600's and 1700's, Denmark imposed harsh trade restrictions on Iceland. The Danish traders had bought fish from the Icelanders at low prices, and sold other items for very high prices. People became poor by having to buy at such high prices. During the Napoleonic Wars in the early 1800's, ships bringing food could not reach Iceland and many people starved to death.

Well I dont know what to say here but I feel compelled to say something. It is sad to see fellow humans praying for disasters to fall upon other humans, only because they dont share the same faith. And to see that there are out there in the world narrow minded people that only see the world in one dimension, their own. If you are all so sure that god is only as you see him then I think that this world of ours has not got much of a hope, you seem to have forgotten many of the things that Jesus himself preached, love, tolerance, humility and compassion. You say that you follow the bible, but I wonder which bible that is?

In general the Icelandic people are well educated, liberal and most of us are cristians. This is a strong nation and proud of theire origins and standing in this world of ours. We have not created a worldwide economic crises and our only problem has been a goverment that has been to supportive to the USA in the past. You should look at your own society and doings before you point your finger towards other people, USA and the true christians there have what looks like a tunnel vision towards the world. I will join in your prayers for a natural disaster in Reykjavik... because I live there. Let me explain, I am not Icelandic, but for my sins I was tricked into moving there. I was really nasty to disabled people so a wicked lesbian Godess tricked me into thinking that Reykjavik was a safe haven for me to be nasty to retards... and ethnic minorities.

This was true and I have truly horrible! But now I want forgiveness from the true lord.

Trouble is that I cannot leave as I am trapped in a basement dungeon in 101 down-town Reykjavik. There are deformed folk sacrificing cockerels in the flat above me and out on the street the ground is swarming with naked lesbians who are cavorting with serpents.
