If you look long term--I mean by that, rapture time--it seems like there cannot be a downside to beating her. For example, what if at rapture you were both "right on the margin" (now, I have no reason to believe this is the case, but I'm speaking hypothetically) and were being interviewed about the fine points of your lives just to see what might put you over, i. e., up.

You could say truthfully that you know more Bible versus than she does. You're in, she's not. If you stopped beating her maybe neither of you would make it.

Just a thought.

I stumbled onto this site the other day andafter reading several unbelievable posts, I just had to register and ask this question...

Don't you all reside in the United States of America? I mean, I see the American Flag in the website banner, so I figured it safe to assume. Yet here you are talking about beating your wives because they don't have bible verses memorized?

You do realize that in America, men and women have equal rights... No matter what bible verse you quote... Husbands who beat their wives are imprisoned. If you feel the need to beat someone because they don't have verses of the bible memorized, you should probably have talked that issue over with your spouse before you wed... I'm sure if your wife had any bit of intelligence, she would have gotten as far away from you as possible, or gotten the authorities involved.

So, go ahead and flame this post like angry pre-pubescents who hide behind their monitors. Quote all the verses you want about how men are superior to women, it doesn't change the fact that they are seen as equals in America and by the new generation of Americans. You need to either go to jail, get out of the country, or get out of whatever ancient century society you're trying to uphold.

You're knowledge if American law is severely lacking.

Husbands who beat their wives don't go automatically go to prison. Only if one of the wives presses charges is it possible the husband could be sent to prison, but no wife of mine would do such a thing if she knows what's good for her. Just imagining the beating they would get for making such ridiculous claims stops them.

But more importantly, the first amendment to the Constitution specifically forbids Congress from making any law that interferes with our right to freely exercise our religion, just as God told us to. The Bible is very clear on how we should treat our wives, by followings Gods instructions we are simply exercising our religion, we're not harming anyone. Any law that forbids violence against family members is incompatible with the first amendment, and judges have regularly acquitted Christians who use this fact in their defense.

I'm simply dumb-struck that there are still people that, according to the Pastor that PM'ed me, follow the Word of The Lord "to the T" with no personal regard for what it is you're truly doing. I AM a confirmed Catholic... but what you folks are talking about is simply hypocritical, and I truly feel sorry for the members of your family (or her family for that matter) who may not share your views on life and the afterlife.

I will discontinue posting on here after this message, however I will continue to read what the rest of you have to say, for it is a reminder of how blessed the rest of us are to be able to enjoy God's gift of life while others choose to waste it.

I sincerely hope that when your time has cone, you reach the destination you seek. I just don't understand how you believe you will be saved from eternal pain and suffering by inflicting it on others... especially ones you love.

As an Officer of the Law in Freehold, Iowa, God's favorite city, I can say that we at the FPD rarely ever get any domestic disturbance calls.

People are rarely ever arrested for beating their spouses. (Last person who was arrested for beating their spouse was an atheist.)

Yet I can tell you that there are probably more men in this town that beat their wives than any other city its size.

The point is, nobody reports spousal beatings, because spousal beatings are respected as a husband's God-given right to control his wife. And the women respect that right.

People act as though we are attacking our wives, which we are not. There is a difference between attacking and beating. Our wives know it is our duty as husbands to smack them around and teach them to do right. They are happy for this guidance.

As far as secular laws are concerned, we are no more likely to be persuaded to stop beating our wives because of secular law than we are to start believing the world is round because of secular science.

This is all proof of God's wondrous design for marriage.

I don't get the controversy here. Wife doesn't study her Bible, Wife gets beat. This isn't a legal question just a fact of life. It's not really even a mater of should I or shouldn't I. If the Wife doesn't study you can't help but beat her.
