Yes. Even counting books that are not the Bible, I am certain that I have read for at least 10,000 hours during my life. My reading has covered such genres as literary fiction, "junk" fiction, biographies, hard science, social science, mythology and philosophy.

I didn't brag about it in my response post to Spyper. I am bragging about it in my response to you. My rejoinder to Spyper was intended as a challenge to spur him in the direction of enlargeing the scope of his life experiences.

No, you cannot assert with conviction that everyone has prayed in their lives. There are those who have not and do not. Moreover, most contemporary schools in this country have forbidden prayer. You would be aware of that if you had read a history book. History! Another genre that I have read extensively. I won a radio call-in contest because of my reading of history. Did I indicate a "need" to sew anything? I was using that activity as an example of something substantive that one could do with one's time. Even people passionate about fantasy and science fiction often spend time to put forth the creative work to make costumes.

Gamers click keys and spend money on imaginary costumes and weapons and armor that someone else designed and converted into code. It's not unlike eating dinner every night without giving a thought as to who paid for it and shopped for it and cooked it. This tends to be the Gamer MO. I've known a few who would go without a bun for their hotdog if it required cutting the bun themselves.

When it comes to building part, do you mean building your character, relationship with loved ones or making a tower from LEGOs?

I am all for building the things you listed. Other than the LEGO tower, those things require time, self-reflection and attention to the needs of others. Those second two behaviors are NOT something that I have observed being part of standard Gamer MO.

If you did this, then why do you brag? Go and pray to God?

Again, I did not brag, I challenged. And that second sentence is a dangling, incomplete thought. How does it relate to anything else that you wrote?

Dear baseball mom, as a pastor and the father of a gamer, tf2 is not a game for Satanists. The game is just fine and the only bad thing I'd say is the blood. Otherwise it let my kids play it with no worry of my kids becoming children of Satan. God probably doesn't endorse the game, but I sure he doesn't resent it.

Of course not! Satanists are already hardcore sinners. When they waste time that should be devoted to The Lord, they are usually eating babies and engaging in anal stimulation. Why would they bother with a stupid, imaginary world of slaughter when they regularly indulge in the real thing? (Some people need things soo clearly spelled out for them, it's kind of sad.)

Oh? Just how sure ARE you? God gets pretty ticked off about a lot of things in the world that may seem minor to most people. And by those same people's perspective, God seriously overreacts.


He drowned millions of people and possibly a billion animals which aren't even capable of actual sin that one time, remember? Moses was denied entrance to the Promised Land because of one tiny deviation in his response to God's instructions. Turned out God was kind of resentful, and Moses put in over 40 years of loyal service.


God's Holy Word commands the death penalty for picking up sticks on the Sabbath. Picking up sticks seems a lot more innocuous than putting time, energy and money into an activity that glorifies bloodshed and usurps God's Power by resurrecting the dead right and left.

Basic tenet of Christianity you're overlooking there: everyone is a sinner. Therefore, if Jesus interacted with a human being during His alleged short stay on this Earth, then He was with a sinner, perforce.
