    A question and seeking advice

So I was not raised with any religion, from a young age I was impressionable enough to be lead down a path of sin. Yet I was lucky enough recently to have a gentleman reach out to me and talk to me about the path of salvation. I've had to think for a bit to reflect on the sins I have committed. Finding this forum has been eye opening. It is clear that many here are wise and truly know the word of God and the path of salvation.I read what some people say and my heart leaps out towards it confirming that it is the truth and that which I had been seeking.
I find Ecclesiasties is my favourite book because it describes exactly how I saw the world until I learned about salvation through Jesus Christ.
Here's to hoping I can learn from the wise and learned people here.

Ecclesiastes is a wonderful book, I'm glad you chose that one. Often we fail to see the sin in our own lives, but you have recognised the need for Redemption and I trust you will find the guidance you're looking for here. Welcome to the forum.

Hello and to our forum! I look forward to reading more of your contributions. There are so many great verses in Ecclesiastes that we can discuss!

Do you have a most favorite verse in this book? I think one of my favorites is the one that too much study is bad for your health, and you don't need it anyway since all God wants is just to follow His Commandments (instead of worrying about such irrelevant stuff as medicine, astronomy, chemistry, physics, etc):

      Ecclesiastes 12:12-13
12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

God created fossils to test our faith.

Welcome! It's nice to "meet" you! Tell us a bit about yourself since Christ found you and scooped you up out of the dark, dismal reality that is atheism! How do you best like to rebuke sinners, now that you know the need to warn people they will suffer and eternity of Damnation if they continue to ignore giving the LORD due attention?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

              A question and seeking advice

So I only discovered the Lord a few years ago and I've been doing my best to make up for my Godless upbringing. With some hindsight I'm glad I didn't go down the path so many promiscuous young teens do. Now in my 20's I do not fear giving away my virginity to anyone but a husband. Though currently I am both single and not married which carries with it its own challenges, namely I feel tempted to masturbate. I've read that some women here have used chastity belts to control themselves.
I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice in this regard?

Re: A question and seeking advice

Well, that is a very poor introduction. The instructions at the top of the page are there for a reason: "Here is where you introduce yourself. Tell us what church you go to and what your favorite Bible verse is and how you came to find Jesus."As to the rest, this site is Blessed with a very comprehensive search function. I suggest you use it. Oh, and you might want to explain what, exactly, you mean by this, which looks somewhat like a tautology:

Re: A question and seeking advice

Welcome to the forum, young lady.

If you're struggling with sexual urges, you really should get married as soon as possible. God created the institution of marriage not for love or procreation but to prevent people from masturbating and committing other sexual sins, because he knew those He created in His image wouldn't be able to control themselves.

                  1 Cor 7:1-5
1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

While you are waiting for your father to find you a suitable husband, bear in mind that resisting temptation is a condition of your salvation.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Take courage that God will never allow you to be tempted above what you can bear.

1 Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Please be aware that by God's standard, what you are "able to bear" may include blood loss -- your own.

Hebrews 12:4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

God is very sympathetic, as He understands our weaknesses and limits better than we do (Heb 4:15).

Now please introduce yourself properly and tell us what church you go to, what your favorite Bible verse is and how you came to find Jesus.
sigpicMt 21:42, 44 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes . . . ? And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

Ugh, another harlot tossing her leg over the bannister to see if she can catch a fly.
Why do these idiots come on a CHRISTAN website, refuse the read the FAQs and wonder why we could care less about them. They simply fail to realize........ wait for it........ they have demonstrated they could care less about us and like little babies, want to be the center of the universe and have us answer a question when we know them from, well, Adam.

Excuse my frustration (that mostly means you Jesus) but after a time, a man needs to have a release from all the pent up energy. Perhaps I need to spend some alone time with The Good Book.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

You would think that at least could be kept somewhat under wraps. Announcing to a group of people one has just met that they compulsively jam lengthy plastic figurines, power tools, and wriggly rodents up one's coochy mama is a shocking turn of social values! Women just didn't make these kinds of entries when W Bush was our fearless leader!
