    I have many questions

Hello, I'm new here. I am an Atheist. Before you get too angry at me (judging from what I've seen on here), I want to explain my reasoning for being here. When I was young, I believed in Jesus, God, and Christianity in general. But as I grew I started to believe less in the Bible. Eventually I became Atheist.
I've always been interested in what other people think and why, so I decided to make an account after finding this site to ask some questions. I'd like to learn about your opinions and why you all believe in them. I'll try to be as respectful as possible and I hope you all will do the same for me.
    Thank you.

If you wish to know about God and the Bible, you've come to the right place. However, if you wish to know how we think, you may be disappointed, as we try to keep our personal thinking at a minimum. We are happy to have Jesus and our senior pastors do our thinking for us. They do it much better, don't you think? We are not angry at you - God is. He has explicitly stated that not believing in Him is foolishness and that without Faith™ people are incapable of doing good things.

    Psalms 14:1
(To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Please remember that, in contrast to God, we Love you and wish to show you the Way back unto Jesus's bosom! Still, don't you have any Bible verses that you like and enjoy and come back to time and time again?

    Yours in Christ,

As it stands, you are going to Hell. You may say, that as atheist, you don't believe in Hell. For myself, I accept the KJV Bible as the legitimate word of God. Unless you repent and accept the Loving Embrace of Jesus, there is an Eternity of Torture awaiting you.

Not much of a career-path – not much of a life - is it? I suggest that you are a disappointment to your parents and a figure of suspicion and shame in your otherwise god-fearing community.

That said, people often shy away from things that they fail to grasp and they fail to grasp things when they do not study them. Was it not a pope who said
        “A little learning is a dangerous thing. Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian Spring;
There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain,
and drinking largely sobers us again.”?
Now I don’t usually quote a pope but even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

The difficulty is that you made no effort and expected Jesus to come knocking on your door. Jesus is a very busy part of the Trinity and because he died temporarily, He is worthy of great respect.

I don’t know if anyone in your area would consider employing an atheist, but if you do have a job you have to ask yourself – would the big boss of the biggest business in the area give you a big raise and three stages of promotion if you did not work for him and knew nothing about the company he ran?

        I suspect that he wouldn’t.

You have chosen atheism through laziness, sloth, idleness, and lack of intellect.

In what way would you like our help?

Can you read? If you actually read the KJV Holy Bible, you will see The Truth®. When you look at the pages of a math book, before you have taken time to understand what all the symbols mean, it is gobbledygook. Well the Bible is just like that!
We do not have opinions. There is no need for them. We have the Bible to tell us how to think, live and act.

Hello dear. While it saddens me to hear that you are not a believer, there still a chance of Salvation for you. Have you ever heard of Pascal's wager? Basically, it says there are two options: either God exists or He doesn't. If you believe in God and it turns out He doesn't exist, you lose nothing. If you believe in God and He does exist, you win the Eternal Life. If you don't believe in God and He doesn't exist, you lose nothing. If you don't believe in God and He does exist, you will suffer in Hell for eternity. So basically, it is a safer bet to believe in God.

              Re: I have many questions

Hello – welcome to the forum and thank you for posting an introduction. Was there any particular aspect of Scripture that led to your rejecting Christ? A lot of unscrupulous types have brought out "different translations" to justify what they already think and I'll give a simple example

Ἐν ἀρχῃ ἠν ὁ λογοςBLUE TEXT original words from John 1:1

This is very easy because the word order is the same as ours.
              .The 1st word means "In"
              ..The 2nd word means "beginning"
              ...The 3rd word means "was"
              ....The 4th word means "the"
              ......The 5th word means "word"

"In the beginning was the word" — RED TEXT correct translation KJV here

Now imagine someone who already thinks everyone should eat frogs.
For some reason which escapes me utterly they wish to claim Scriptural authority for their opinion.
They might do something like this

              Ἐν ἀρχῃ ἠν ὁ λογος

              .The 1st word means "Every"
              ..The 2nd word means "person"
              ...The 3rd word means "must"
              ....The 4th word means "eat"
              ......The 5th word means "frogs"

"Every person must eat frogs" — GREEN TEXT heretical nonsense vocabulary here

They have decided that they disagree with God, so why bother with The Bible at all? In any event what they're doing is deceptive. They're claiming that words signify something other than their actual meaning to reinforce heresy or to change God's communication in such a way as to ascribe meanings the exact opposite of what He obviously intended. If you say there isn't a God to communicate anything, the point remains – except you'd say the heretic was contradicting the author's intended meaning rather than God's. Perhaps you'd seen some of those "translations" and decided that if words could mean anything one fancied then it's just as likely they had no meaning at all? I can see how that might lead to your present (hopefully temporary) position.
Revelation 3:15-16 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

In your second post you mentioned leprechauns. Like frogs, they are often green. Unlike frogs they cannot be eaten because they don't exist. Nevertheless people often claim to see them. Allowing that they do in fact see something, and that leprechauns are not mentioned in The Bible, an explanation involving devils needs to be on the table. They cause all sorts of harm, convulsions, cutting (this is how we know EMO's are demon possessed) even atheism. I am not saying atheism is a leprechaun but both result from demonic possession and that always comes from devils. There is purpose behind what they do, not a purpose you'd want to be aligned with.
Revelation 16:13-14 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

I can recommend listening to Christian music, nothing with "rock" overtones, where Scripture is often expressed in a more accessible way. If they start going on about popes or the planet Kolob however, it is not Christian in any way – even if they say they are. You are in our prayers.

Not really. I just thought about it over time and I started to get confused about "God's Way". It just seems odd that he would let so, so many bad things happen in the world.

What is odd about bad things happening? God has explicitly announced that it is all according to His Will.

That was a choice made by Eve and Adam, who chose to follow her example. God made a good world with all the animals and everything but humans threw all that back in His face. A domino effect of sin and disease, genocide, extortion, rape murder and slavery (to name but seven) was initiated in that moment. Purely by way of speculation, imagine that instead of loitering with the serpent Eve had continued on her way. Any germs hanging around would never have had an opportunity to infect her. Similarly for earthquakes. Now I have no idea how to create a world so if God uses germs and earthquakes somewhere in His design there's no way for me to say He was wrong. In a world without sin there would never be leprosy. The ground would not crack open and swallow people. It may be that God would still crack open the ground for various reasons but there would not be anyone there at that time to be swallowed.

Again, whether or not leprosy would exist as a germ is a moot point because no-one would ever become infected due to never being in the same place as the germ. Eve disrupted that harmony. God can also smite people with leprosy instantly, full blown symptoms have been witnessed to appear in an instant, regardless of whether bacteria are involved. Everything God created was completed on Creation Day Six – unless you're suggesting that after Day Seven God resumed creating things.

Another example of evil is when due to disobedience (such as incorrect use of incense) God sends evil down on whole families which has included the ground ripping open and swallowing them. Whether that would have happened anyway but without people standing in the wrong place is immaterial. These bad things were chosen by humanity electing to go their own way, blocking off God and the path He'd intended. He knew what would happen if we chose that and warned us but Eve just had to know better.

                        Re: I have many questions

Our Brother Doctor White said it best: ". . .we try to keep our personal thinking at a minimum."

Thinking is not what we do here. Telling you what the Bible really says is our mission. Furthermore, a True Christian(tm) does not think that the Bible is Absolutely True, he knows it. This is because the Bible declares Itself to be true. It does this numerous times throughout its contents, so those who declare themselves to be Christians have no reason to doubt that fact.

If they choose to doubt, they may as well choose not to be Christians, since the only reason to be a Christian is because the Bible says that it is a good (and life-saving) thing to be.

I don't claim to like you for declaring yourself to be an atheist, and I certainly don't want to get too attached because God could strike you down at any moment, but I respect you a little more than people who say that they are Christians but constantly try to undermine God when they reject or misinterpret the Bible.

So, by all means, please continue to ask questions. Just don't get all snarky when our answers come from the Bible. And please for the love of God or Dog or whatever you happen to hold dear, please don't lose your temper and tell us to "Go to Hell" because we happen to have a clear perspective on who God is sending to hell.

So-called "Christians" come here all the time and do that. It would be upsetting if it weren't so amusing.
