I've read the entire thread. In fact I read every thread here at the forum in their entirety. As you have been told repeatedly read your 1611 King James Bible. It has the answer to every question you could ever ask about life or afterlife.

I simply cannot understand your confusion/quagmire about not trying to understand God and the fact that everything a True Christian(tm) needs to understand about God is contained within the 1611 King James Bible. You act as though those are two mutually exclusive ideas.

Psalm 139 is such a beautiful Psalm and the verses you quoted have been set to music in this lovely hymn:

The Hymn is often associated with Methodists (a branch of The Church of England which cult John Wesley would not leave because that would be schism a vile thing in his mind; naturally in that case his "followers" immediately set up their own cult in Wesley's name to create exactly the schism he detested). Taken as they are the words of the Psalm are scripturally accurate, but when you talk to Anglicans (or Methodists) about their hymn they invariably start in with the "love of God" theme.

This hymn is actually about THE HATE OF GOD.

19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

21 Doe not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieued with those that rise vp against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

God hates a very large number of people (most people) and we should hate them too. Jesus helps us to understand what this means and I would encourage you to make a list of the people you hate starting with a look at what He said: Luke 14:26. Notice how God is consistent?

When people reject God's Perfect Hate they are on the path to HELL and in the meantime feel free to engage in just about every sin including self aggrandisement and praying for corpses. Do you do that?

Taking scripture out of context like that insults God and denies His Unique Hatred. Here is the whole Psalm. Here is verse3

In just the way that Methodism is the grossest travesty of Wesley's teachings (I do not have an opinion as to whether what he preached in his "method" was ever correct: if it disagreed with The Bible it was false), attaching vv23,24 to some doctrine of universal love is an insult to Jesus, branding Him a liar. That is called "cherry picking" and would best be described as fairy floss (false) Christianity. Does that help bring your plight more into focus?

I did not attach vv23, 24 to anything. It is a part of a beautiful Psalm and I merely started my post with a small quote. Do you understand what I mean? I did not mean to start the post by stating "hey, look at these verses. God loves everyone!" I hope I cleared up some of the confusion!

Cherry-picking is one of the reasons I never understood my parents' faith. That is the road to damnation.

Tom, welcome to this holy place of praise and fellowship. Having a troubled past myself (though arguably not quite as bad as yours) I would like to offer up a verse that they may help you.

Job 6:10

Then should I yet have comfort; Yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare;
For I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

You should praise God even in the face of complete damnation. The book of Job would be a good reading assignment for you as it explains the life of a truly tortured soul who was being tested by God (and tempted by Satan).

I would suggest you spend some time reading over Job and learning about the mysterious ways in which god works. Again, welcome to the forums!

I was brought up Catholic. Seven years have now passed since my mother and father died in a bus accident at Konginkangas, Finland. They were deeply religious... Catholics. I never really understood their faith. They taught me that if one believes, they are saved. I feel sad that they thought so, I really do. I pray for their souls even though I know where they went...

After the crash I knew why their lives ended short. That was when I knew that the way I lived was not the way God wanted me to live. That was when I understood the importance of the Scripture. I am deeply ashamed for I have lived wickedly and my life would be worthless if it wasn't for Him.

I merely scraped the surface but I do believe you understand why I knew I had to change the way I believed.

God did choose to bless you!
