Hello there!
I have chosen the name Tempered to represent myself here. I am a Deist. My belief is in a creator, not tied to a specific religion. Personally, I consider myself a good person. One who cares for others and helps where I can, both in charity and good will.
I did not join these forums because I am a believer in Christianity, although my belief that Jesus was indeed a true figure in history, and a grand one at that, is not in question. I do not wish to spark arguments, or fights, or even malicious debate in my time here. I only wish to be a voice that speaks in the middle ground. It is my opinion that belief alone does not make you a good person, and that God, in whichever form he takes, values you on your own merit. I personally view God as a father figure, a being of learning and guidance, not of judgement and extreme punishment. Having said that, I choose not to judge others. It is not my place, I do not know their circumstance, their mindset or how they came to be the way they are. The lessons of God have taught me to be humble, accepting and tolerant. For some of you this may brand me as something negative, to others I may simply be indecisive. To some I may provide a balancing view, something that weighs one side of an argument more evenly. I hope that I can achieve that. Balance in life is a great gift, and can be found anywhere, in religion or elsewhere.
Please, welcome me to the forums with an open heart.
