  • Hello, I am Tempered.

    Hello there!

I have chosen the name Tempered to represent myself here. I am a Deist. My belief is in a creator, not tied to a specific religion. Personally, I consider myself a good person. One who cares for others and helps where I can, both in charity and good will.

I did not join these forums because I am a believer in Christianity, although my belief that Jesus was indeed a true figure in history, and a grand one at that, is not in question. I do not wish to spark arguments, or fights, or even malicious debate in my time here. I only wish to be a voice that speaks in the middle ground. It is my opinion that belief alone does not make you a good person, and that God, in whichever form he takes, values you on your own merit. I personally view God as a father figure, a being of learning and guidance, not of judgement and extreme punishment. Having said that, I choose not to judge others. It is not my place, I do not know their circumstance, their mindset or how they came to be the way they are. The lessons of God have taught me to be humble, accepting and tolerant. For some of you this may brand me as something negative, to others I may simply be indecisive. To some I may provide a balancing view, something that weighs one side of an argument more evenly. I hope that I can achieve that. Balance in life is a great gift, and can be found anywhere, in religion or elsewhere.

Please, welcome me to the forums with an open heart.

    Re: Hello, I am Tempered.

Who cares about your blasphemous, made-up philosophy? You just pulled all that out of your ass, and you waltz in here and expect us to take you seriously?

Tell us about yourself. What is your name? How old are you? What church were you raised in? Why do you hate Christianity, when the Holy Bible commands us to worship Christ or spend eternity in the lake of fire God created for us?

If you'd like to find out more about Landover Baptist Church, please read THIS thread created especially for new posters.

There is a lot of anger in there, that I feel is misdirected. My full names is Gareth Samuel Freeman-Murray. The full meaning of my name is Strong Spear, Asked of God, Freed man, Lord of the seas (in context of sailors, not a deity). I am 24 years old. I have experienced the teachings of the Bible at my first primary school, called Holy Innocence, however I have not been a member of any Church. God can see me anywhere, he can view my deeds and judge them himself. Not you. Can you not be even slightly accepting that I am a good person? Regardless of faith?

I do not hate Christianity. How can I hate someone for their beliefs? Like I posted before, I am tolerant and accepting of others.

You need to take a look at my sermon on this subject HERE.

And by the way, nowhere in the Holy Word of God am I admonished to tolerate unsaved scum like you. Quite the contrary.

"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds" -- 2 John 1:9-11

I have read your sermon. I fully understand the points you make, that those that do not follow the teachings of the bible simply damn themselves to hell, it is not God's will that they do so. I whole heartedly agree on that.

I never asked for your tolerance, tolerance is different from acceptance. Tolerance is an idea of equality. Acceptance is the idea of recognition. I don't believe or disbelieve the notion of whether we are equal or not, for I do not KNOW you. I came here to find out about your religion, and possibly engage in rhetoric and debate about it's finer points.

Certainly one thing is clear that we do share, you believe that sometimes the bad is necessary in order to accomplish the greater good. You admonish and antagonize those branded unsaved in order to enlighten them and bring them to your faith. Saying bad or spiteful things unto them in order to show them their errors and improve their lives with your faith.

                Re: Hello, I am Tempered.

For the sake of accuracy, could you change my title from "degenerate godmocker" to simply "godmocker" if completely necessary to have it there. Degenerate used in that way is not accurate of my situation here. Also I'm not a Godless Europistan. I believe in *a* god, just not one of any particular doctrine.

May I remind you of this section of the guide posted by Pastor Billy-Reuben:

If you are a Muslim, Catholic, Pagan, or other non-Christian, and you are here for some interfaith dialog, then this section is for you.

Welcome, friend. If you are here in a spirit of peace and wish to learn more about our religion, and want to teach us more about your religion, then you are welcome here. If you are here because you think we are intolerant of your religion, then please go back and read the previous section.

Keep in mind, however, that most of us are well educated. If your religion has been around for a while and has a large enough following, then it is likely that we have already studied your religion in depth.

Also keep in mind, that our religion tells us that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, and that if you aren't a Christian, then you will be damned to the fiery pits of Hell for all eternity. We aren't gloating about this. We treat this fact with all of the solemnity that it deserves. We will not give up on you until we have saved you from this fate.
