Re: Why the GOP Lost the Presidency... oh, and hello.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Considering it is you "True Christians" toying with my avatar, sending me whinny messages with frivolous infractions and taking offense at every turn. I've seen tadpoles with thicker skin.
As I see it married couples of any gender dynamic receive hospital and prison visitation rights, authority on medical decisions, shared medical benefits, inheritance rights, the ability to create life insurance trusts, file joint tax returns, get insurance discounts and retirement benefits to name a few. These benefits are usually non-monetary, paid by the couple or the private companies they've worked for.
Could you please elaborate on how exactly what benefits married couples regardless of gender dynamics get that are funded by the taxpayers (who may include said couple)?
Agreed. However, that's not what I said. Homosexual marriage is just one part of a whole when it comes to the GOP's position on social issues.
As I said:
I suspect they did lose votes from moderates who value equal rights and find the opposition to gay rights fundamentally unconstitutional.
Basing the civil rights of individuals on a popular vote would be considered unthinkable if we were voting on the legality of interracial marriage. We might as well vote as to rather peanut butter and jelly can legally be eaten at the same time or rather or not it is legal to place onions on a cheeseburger. All of which are matters of personal preference that are ultimately inconsequential to the opposing voters. I.e. it's none of their business if a gay couple wants to be married or if a straight couple likes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
