    Introduction

    Hi y'all,

I was born and raised Presbyterian. After years of study, prayer and reflection, I became Catholic last year.

I did this because Truth is not found in the traditions of men, but in a person:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
In my desire to follow Jesus where ever he leads, I could not ignore what he said to Peter:

Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

There's nothing worse than a fresh convert to a cult.

People like you are like someone who just gave up drinking, always lording it over everybody else how they're right and everybody else is wrong.

Well, you're the one that's wrong pal. You were wrong when you were Presbyopian, and you're wrong now. But we can help you if you want to convert to True Christianity(tm).

            Excuse me?

I am nearly speechless at the ignorance of the above statement. Honestly, when a person says something so blatantly wrong, the mind boggles for a moment.

Friend, the Books of Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus, Tobias, Judith, Baruch, First and Second Machabees and portions of Esther and Daniel are the Apocrypha.

At the Reformation the churches which separated from Rome and followed True Christianity(tm) decided that the above Books were not of equal authority with the rest since they are not to be found in the Hebrew Bible, but only in the Greek version; hence Catholic heretics call them "Deuterocanonical" or Books to be found only in the second or Greek list of canonical Scriptures.

Let's have a bit we can all agree is in the Bible.

                    Exodus 20:4-6
4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

When did you first decide God didn't really mean this?

Fair enough, but it was Jesus who quoted the Greek version of the Scriptures. Why does the reformation church think it has the authority to pick what books are in the Bible and what books are not?

Are you sure you are a catholic and not just someone who thought pretending to be a catholic would really annoy us?

The King James Bible is the Bible. Are you saying that God didn't actually oversee its writing and it is invalid?

When did you first decide God didn't really mean this?

By that logic, drawing a picture of a person like the smily faces you all use would mean that you are all damned to hell.

This commandment was given right before Moses came down and found that his people were worshiping a golden calf. That is what this commandment means. Don't worship idols. The picture above is meant to glorify God and God alone. When we bow before a statue, we don't worship the statue, we worship God. That's what symbology is. We don't worship the symbol, but what the symbol points to.

And there is a difference between bowing down and worshiping. Bowing down is a sign of respect. The same thing as a military salute. I respect Mary, the saints, all Christians who have gone before me and who have given my the deposit of faith that was first given to him and all of God's angels (not his demons).

Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ forever.
