Now that is a matter of interpretation. If you interpret closer as "ideologically closer" then you are right.

Well, two things here.

1) Here at Landover Baptist, we don't interpret. We follow the Bible word for word. It's not for us to decide what He meant. We go by his Written Word.

2) God tells us clearly to stay away from unbelievers.

For example:

2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Which makes it clear that, no matter how you would translate "próximo", we are not allowed to live close to unbelievers. They represent evil, and darkness.

Of course the Portuguese are lazy. They vote for parties like the Socialists, Social Democrats, Left Bloc and the Communists! The idea of the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights is to prohibit the government from endorsing or deriding a religion.

The nation you are criticizing is preventing us, the people you hate, from being able to execute fags the way the Bible tells us to, because the secular government is heeding the First Amendment.

This is one of the most ignorant posts I've ever seen but, I'll try to reply to some of the things I've read.

First of all, you claim that Portugal is a country addicted to religion and God. I can tell you this: never have so many portuguese people been so non-catholic. The ones you claim being soo close minded whith religion are, in most cases, 60 and older or from villages, which does represent a considerable percentage but still, not as you say it is. And that Mary thing you guys are arguing about, those million of people that go to Fatima every year are, most of them, tourists: it's not like every single portuguese runs to Fatima at that time of the year.

Secondly, I've read posts criticizing Portugal's food. I can tell you this: it's is considered one of the healthiest and better diets in europe. If you are used to eating your mcburgers whatever, don't criticize things you actually dont know shit about.

Going on, people often compare Portugal to Spain but still, you can't say some of the things I've read here. I saw this ridiculous reply comparing Portuguese language to Spanish. We don't even use the same characters, how can you say it's the same language? As a person in another reply said about America and England, I'll say about Portugal and Spain: we are completly different countries and we have been for a lot more time than America and England.

Ohh and hilarious this one: complaining about the smell? AHAH if you are from England or France, countries I've visited and do actually know what I'm talking about, you'll see how bad it smells in their over-populated capitals. And I guess the same goes for America too.

And last thing, about gay marriage being legal: I honestly do not care. I can still mary women so, whatever.
