That certainly made it easier to find John 10:7-18 from which you took your quote, unlike some verses I liked and wanted to find somewhat faster where I had to use a marker pen.

Would you be so kind to explain what John 10:10 has to do with cooking, the role of women and men in the household, restaurants or homosexuality? I am pretty sure there is scripture that actually addresses these issues in more detail?
My very dear Sister Basilissa already explained this to you. I would like to say though, that John 10:10, while doesn't explicitly speak of cooking, does show you the problem with sinning and the Devil. Sister Basilissa has shown you that men cooking is immoral, and the Devil as we all know, is the king of immorality. "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8. Thus, my verse was to show you that your sins will only lead you to eternal Hellfire.

      Dear Mrs. Elizabeth,

Basilissa was so kind to show that Esau got the short end of the stick because of some family matters (and a prejudiced mother). Food was just an instrument, not an end.

You seem to be very vengeful, condemning men who prepare dinner, ask people to dine and serve them fish (or at least give them the recipe). Did you miss John 21:12-13?
Jeremiah 6:21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

Best wishes for the people in Ukraine.

You misinterpreted the Bible verse. It did not say that Jesus prepared the bread, rather that He broke it. Stop being a stumbling block and nuisance to Christians!

Thank you for your elaborate explanation. The dinner /meal problem Esau encountered seemed to have been caused by some family issues. Jesus (for example) did not have those problems, see John 21:12-13. Since I am not really hairy, I do not think posting about cooking, serving dinner or posting recipes should be a problem for the Christians on this site.
My dear, John 21:12-13 is about eating, not cooking. (Nowhere I have suggested, I hope, that the Bible does not allow men to eat). In fact, when we read the preceding verses (John 21:5-11), there is a description how the fish was caught, but not how/by whom it was cooked. For all we know, maybe the fish was not cooked at all - maybe Jesus and the Apostles enjoyed some fresh sushi that day?

My point is, this passage does not allow men to cook (since the act of cooking is not even mentioned).

John 21:9 says it was a fire of coals on which the the fish and bread were. Since Didymus and the other disciples were prancing around on a boat with a naked guy (John 21:7), does not logic dictate that it was Jesus who fired up the BBQ?

No, because the Bible does not say that Jesus took the fish and prepared/cooked it. Jesus is the Son of God, why would be He involved in something so mundane? Speaking of logic - it actually dictates that Jesus created the fire with the fish and bread already on it - therefore, He probably created that fish-meal already without scales, fishbones, and guts (sorta like the kind of fish-meal that can be observed on fish sandwiches - the square fish variety, but Jesus fish-meal probably was more fishy).

                I found this recipe:

They get ashore and find a charcoal fire burning – a BBQ breakfast of fish and bread, and the chef is Jesus. That’s right, the Risen Jesus, the Son of God, is the doing the Master Chef thing. He shares the fish and bread around

This looks simple, just roast some sardines over an open fire and enjoy!

I think cooking a good meal (and eating it) is one of the greatest things!

Today the fish guy at the market had these shiny fishes:

I bought four of them and had them make fillets of them. This is quite a tasty fish so it can be combined with stronger tastes. The recipe:

Cut a pound of cherry tomatoes in half, toss them in a bowl with some Italian herbs to your liking, two teaspoons of powdered sugar and half a cup of olive oil. Transfer them to a baking dish and put them in the oven at 100º C (210º F) to dry. This takes about 2,5 hours. Let them cool and set apart.

Cut some potatoes up in wedges, put them in a baking tray with some garlic, rosemary, salt, pepper and oil and put them in the oven at 175º C (350º F) for 40 minutes or until done. Using a sharp knife, slightly cut the skin of the fish, this prevents the fillets from curling. Gently fry in a bit of cleared butter.

Put some light mixed salad on a plate, add some dried tomatoes and put the fish on top. Drizzle the remaining butter over the salad and serve with the potato wedges.

Leftover dried tomatoes will keep good for a week in the refrigerator.
Tell me that at least that you don't cook for your woman(?)...give them an inch and they'll take a mile. If you don't watch out, before you know it, she(?) will have you bent over a barrel shoveling the coals to you

Personally, I'd rather starve to death than offend Christ by preparing a meal for myself!

                        Re: Basic Recipes Needed

I just finished a bicycle trip to Northern Spain. With a bike and gear weighing just over 40 kg (80 Lbs), climbing those hills works up a serious appetite. Fortunately the food was good, lots of fish and other seafood. I recommend eating out in Spain, especially since you don´t need to make concessions where cost is involved.

Anyway: One particular seafood got my interest, a seafood I never really gave a thought: The sepia or squid. This is quite a tasty creature, somehow it has never never caught my attention. How wrong could I have been. With this newly found knowledge I went to the fish guy at the market. He appreciated my interest in his squids and was really helpful to help me on my way to clean the little critters and make them into a nice dish. Cleaning these critters is pretty easy. The recipe I stole from Cato, you need:

                        8 small squid
                        2 onions, diced
                        1 shallot, diced
                        2 cloves of garlic, minced
                        2 ounces of bacon
                        1 tablespoon of Panko
                        1 can of tomato puree
                        A handful of chopped parsley
A tablespoon of your favourite herbs
                        A bit of fish fond
                        A glass of red wine
                        some dried tomatoes

                        The recipe:

Clean the squids. Sauté one onion, add the bacon, shallot, garlic and some dried tomatoes (see previous recipe). When done: Put in a bowl. Add panko and parsley, mix and stuff the cleaned squids with this mixture.

Put the pan back on the stove, and sauté the other onion. Add any remaining stuffing, some more chopped up dried tomatoes, the tomato puree and a tablespoon of your favourite herbs. Stir-fry for ~3 minutes and then add the red wine, fish fond, stuffed squid and let simmer for 15 minutes.

                        Serve over pasta and enjoy!

I don´t know. I started reading the Bible at Genesis, now I am at Exodus 19:16. So far no bad words about squids.

You mean, Mrs. Etheldreda, God has answered all our prayers that your husband is finally a strong, Jesus-filled man who no longer fears teaching his lovely wife her place with a firm backhand or black eye?
