you would be moving with an X-direction and Y-direction the only reason you would fall off a flat bed is air resistance, if you jumped on a buss where air resistance is not a factor you would fall back down directly where you jumped.

Yet, we don't see any "air resistance" even though the earth is rotating at an incredible 1,000 miles an hour. The speed of sound is only 768 mile an hour and the terminal velocity, the fastest speed a human body can travel is 125 miles per hour. If we were truly exposed to transonic speeds in our daily lives our bodies would explode.

we dont see the effects of air resistance in this mannor because the atmosphere is moving at the same speed of the earth,

terminal velocity means the highest speed we will accelerate to in free fall, with out any out side forces other than gravity pushing us down



and if you were on a flat escalator as mentioned moving at 1 mph and you jumped up you would be moving up words in the X direction but you would also be moving forward at 1 mph relative to those around you


if the test works on a flat bed but not inside a closed space i.e. a bus why is that?

If you jumped up you will not be moving forward. Of course the test still works inside. Try jumping on an inside escalator.

Have you ever jumped on escalator. I suspect you have not. You might want to go and try it.

lets scale things down, very small so your saying that if the earth was moving the instant you jumped up you would fly off? am i wrong? so lets say that your in your car driving 70 mph, the car is moving forward at 70 mph, now lets say you drop something on the floor, the object falls strait down it does not hit the back window because the objects in the car are all moving 70 mph,

so in another sence what your saying is the earth is stationary which is why we can jump up and down, but in a car/bus/truck we can jump up and down while its moving at 70 mph and not be thrown out the back by forces.

Why are you harping on about the same thing. It has been explained to you how it works and yet you still do not understand.

As I mentioned before, Rev. Jim was talking about jumping from the tray of the truck. Not inside the cabin. Were in is his posting did he mention jumping inside the cabin? No where. It is only you.

Why don't you try the experiment for yourself. Try the escalator one. It gives the same results. If you have a friend who has a tray truck then try it with the truck.

so your on a moving walk way (horizontal escalator), and the walk way is moving at 10 mpg, then you jump straight in the air your moving 5 mph up word (Y direction) and still 10 mph forward (x direction).

try this experiment right now... walk forward and toss a ball or crumpled paper into the air a few inches above your hand, the object lands almost exactly back in your hand... or try this... make a mark on the ground somewhere then get a wash cloth and dampen it so it wouldn't bounce now hold the wash cloth up above your head and run as fast as you can, when your foot steps on the mark on the ground you made drop the wash cloth(DONT THROW IT) and keep running once the wash cloth has hit the ground go back and look at it, if the theory is true then the wash cloth would have landed directly on the mark on the ground,

The reason that people don't fall off at the other SIDE of the planet is due to DENSITY. You can not reproduce the scenario because there is on Earth that is dense enough to be greater than the Earth's gravitational field. The only examples of gravitational field strong enough to effect the Earth is the Moon another celestial body of credible DENSITY and the Sun due to enormous DENSITY that is so great is holds 8 planets 1 Plutoid and millions of asteroids in orbit around it.
