Lady, if you think that trying to hide your son from games is the best thing for him, if you are trying to completely smother him so that he can't be hurt from all the itty-bitty evil games out there, then maybe you should hide him in the closet! There is absolutely no way that you can stop him from hearing something about a violent game, because kids talk about it in school!
Team Fortress 2 is a game. So get over it, if your son is 15 or older then let him play it because it will not hurt him, but if he is under the recommended age limit then how did he get it in the first place? I am not trying to be rude or disrespectful, but everyone in here is mentally unstable you can't go around saying that everything that you do not like is evil because God wouldn't put something on the Earth that you wouldn't like, because I don't like brussel sprouts but does that mean that they are from the devil? Of course not, so quit your bitching and live life for the enjoyment you get out of it, I am young, and I play games, I hate bullies, violence (Real life), and I am a devoted follower of Jesus my Saviour but most of all I dislike people that say others are evil because they refuse to meet HIM, I dislike people that say a game is dirty or unholy because in reality who cares? I don't care, I play Halo, TF2, Portal, Red Dead Redemption and all those other "Dirty" games, does that mean I hate Jesus? Goodness you sound angry friend! Look, I don't agree much with these Landover people either, but you have the same bad attitude they do! Do you really think you will show anyone that you are a loving Christian by this ranting? Calling people "mental", "totally insane", "mentally unstable" telling them to "quit their bitching", saying "who cares" to their concerns, calling them blind... Is that what Jesus would do friend? I think you need to find out who Jesus really is! You are giving Christians a bad name, and I will pray for you. Remember this verse:

When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer for that person. If someone slaps you in the face, stand there and take it. I can't believe Nintendo games like this are allowed to be sold on the market. It's disgusting what our country has turned into.

There were a lot more crucifixions before video games. Oh yea, and crusades, and murders and violence. It is just as easy to argue that video games have prevented violence as it is to simply use it as an excuse to vent your pent up... er... frustrations.

I wait in angst to see how many infractions I get this time for not being a blind, racist homophobe (aka taking an opposing stance). Nothing brightens my day more than knowing that the inbreds have been riled. The day we see eye to eye is the day I know dementia has kicked in.

Alright, I've read a lot of your posts and I've decided to make my own post countering the original problem that was raised by baseballmom67. I'm not here to prove god does not exist or anything like that though I have to say that I appreciate the fact that you are friendly enough to provide all of non-believers with such good comments and therefore I will try not to go against your beliefs in my post.

Anyhow, I'll get to the point:

I've played this game for quite a while as well and I won't lie to you, there is indeed a lot of violence but there is also a lot of teamwork involved. Yes, you can say killing other people in an online game using virtual characters is bad even when they have to work together but still, like someone who posted here (I really can't remember his name!) before said: There are also moments of no aggression towards other people/characters/whatever in certain servers.

However, what I found most perplexing was that the original post pointed out that homosexuality was promoted by the doctor of the team. This is not true. Surely, they have those lines that look like it but I guarantee that in the years that I've played this I've NEVER suspected of homosexuality being related to this game. If Valve (the company who made this game) actually decided to make some of their characters gay, then they would have announced it when they released the game. (not only because changing the characters sexual orientation after all these years after the game's release would be pointless but also because there would be no benefit for the game itself and it would also mean the possibility of loosing several players) Now, back to the "homosexual quotes": The lines quoted by baseballmom67, specifically the one where the patient orders the doctor to get behind him are related to the fact that the game represents a war zone and the need of the doctor getting behind his patient represents teamwork and care about the well-being of the patients teammate.

As for the Soldier, the class that mentioned his world, like a previous member of this forum mentioned, the world quoted by that same character is the world of war and therefore not meant to offend God or His World. The characters in this game are literally 9 different people who fight for 2 different sides in order to claim territory. (yes, the objective is exactly that one, I'm 100% sure of it) Nevertheless, I must agree that a lot of games motivate children towards aggressive behavior but I originally felt compelled to reply to this thread about Team Fortress 2 because the arguments presented by the original poster do not correspond to the truth. This game does NOT insult God in ANY way nor promotes homosexuality. In fact, it promotes teamwork.

About the picture on the third (?) post (also brought up by baseballmom67): This is a picture taken from a comic featuring said soldier and a demoman (demolitions man I believe) where they had a strong friendship which started by their first talk in a weapons convention. (yes, you can call it violent but that's not my point) This friendship was then afterwards broken by the introduction of a third party, which offered new weapons in exchange for killing said friend.

Anyway, if you look at it from a different perspective, you'll see that they could also be having a good time (Which I can assure you, I can bring up the whole comic if needed.) and therefore does not represent a promotion of homosexuality. Then again, it is a pretty violent story for boys.

As for the anti-american propaganda, I don't understand what argument is this but I'll have you know that the teams featured in the game are a group of many people from different countries and they do not insult each others nationality in any way.

In conclusion, I've accepted your point of view (the part about the violence) but do not agree with the rest of the accusations of promotion of homosexuality and anti-american propaganda.

PS:Also, in my opinion, playing this type of games at the age of 15 isn't that awful. There isn't that much violence when compared to other games and I also believe that there is a time that people must start thinking for themselves and do what they think is right according to what they believe is right. However, I also believe in all of the parents caution related to games (namely that 16+ or 18+ sign you are all familiar with) and that stores should ask the buyer the age of the player that is going to play the game.

Then you have missed the point. All that we say is geared towards the glory of God. You must understand that God is perfect, and therefore we, as His devout followers, must be respected in particular. You should aspire to be one who conforms to His word. You should be eager to follow our instructions, because we speak from experience in reading the Bible.

What you are doing now is distracting yourself and others from the glory of God. You are moving away from the path that Christ has paved for you.

Instead of telling US what to believe, let Jesus tell YOU what to believe. Read the Bible, son. Then you will understand better.

But reading the Bible is not enough. You must also BELIEVE it. You must believe that Jesus gave everything only temporarily on the cross for your sins. You must believe that He was the Son of God. You must believe that God created the world in six days. You must believe that Jepthah was right to set his daughter on fire. You must believe that Lot was just and had sex with his own daughters. Then your moral compass may begin to be righted.
