  • Florida family persecuted by the manatee lovers

A Florida family turned a trip to Taylor Creek in St. Lucie County into their own private petting zoo in January, authorities report, and then posted the incriminating photos online.

Florida Fish and Wildlife officials say they received a tip that Ryan William Waterman, 21, of Ft. Pierce, posted Facebook images of himself and two kids petting, lifting, and sitting on a manatee calf.

The State Attorney's Office issued a warrant for Waterman's arrest based on the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act, which makes it illegal to injure, harm, harass, capture or attempt to capture a Florida manatee.

“This was a young manatee which was likely still dependent on its mother for food and protection,” FWC manatee biologist Dr. Thomas Reinert said in a release. “Separating the two could have severe consequences for the calf.”

“The calf also appeared to be experiencing manatee cold-stress syndrome, a condition that can lead to death in extreme cases,” said Reinert. “Taking the calf out of the water may have worsened its situation.”

If convicted, Waterman faces $500 fine and a maximum 60 days in jail, FWC spokeswoman Katie Purcell told Palm Beach Post.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time a Floridian has mounted a sea cow.

In October, a St. Petersburg woman was photographed riding a manatee just off-shore and was arrested after she turned herself in to police.

The state has strict protection laws for the Florida manatee, which has been listed as an endangered species since 1967.

Yet the marine mammals are still very vulnerable. In the first five weeks of 2013, nearly a hundred manatees have already been found dead; of those, 11 died of human-related causes, 15 of cold stress, 37 of natural causes, and 25 deaths were undetermined.
When i was in Florida i had manatee steak, it was without doubt the tastiest fish i had ever eaten, and oh boy what a taste! But appearently you cant even touch the manatees now, most likely because of Obama's big government

Does this look like a criminal to you?

Manatees are so stupid creatures that they have chosen to become nearly extinct. I think rest of them should be hunted down and made into one big BBQ so they would have at least some reason to live in the end.

The doctors say that if someone is really intent on dying, there is nothing you can do to stop them.

Why should we put all this effort into saving the manatees when it doesn't even want to save itself?

God has given all animals to us (Genesis 9:2), so if we use them to amuse ourselves and then discard them once we've had our fun, so what?
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.

Amen, brother. My son Connor and I once were in Florida and headed over to the Manatee sanctuary where we waited for the old lady to get done shopping. We spent the time tossing coke bottles at them just for laughs. Had we had the time or the inclination, God would have been fully behind our dining on one of these beasts since God has put all creatures of the earth under our feet.

I think one day liberals will make it illegal for white Christians to scream for help or resist letting the jaws of a hungry bear chomp down upon our heads.

As far as I'm concerned the only reason that some species becomes endangered is that they have stopped reproducing in sufficient numbers, and we all know what that means - they've turned gay. The manatees are no exception here, they're just hanging around Florida hoping to be taken in by the local homer culture.

19 manatees rescued from Florida storm drain

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — At least 19 manatees were pulled from storm drains overnight and safely released back into the Indian River Lagoon where officials believe they traveled from in order to find warmth.
Operations ended at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters, SeaWorld employees and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission left the site after inspecting the remaining culverts and drains.
"There were at least 19 or 20 that were rescued," Capt. Jay Dragon of the Satellite Beach Fire Department said. He added that all of the marine mammals — also known as sea cows — were in good condition.
"They were all released back into the river," he said.
The fools! They should have shot the beasts. Manatees block drains on purpose! They know what they are doing.

Someone actually let one go in the YMCA pool last Saturday. Hopefully these men won't be prosecuted for showing off their catch.

People should stay away from manatees. Not many people know this, but manatee is the Spanish version of man eater.
