  • Why should we care that the Saudis killed Khashoggi?

This story seems to be very popular for the past two weeks or so:

Over the past 24 hours, we learned precise details about what Turkish officials say happened to Saudi journalist and dissident Jamal Khashoggi when he disappeared two weeks ago — and how the Trump administration wants to sweep the issue under the rug.
On Tuesday night, the Wall Street Journal reported that Khashoggi was drugged and murdered inside Saudi Arabia’s Istanbul consulate on October 2 in the presence of a top Saudi official, according to Turkish sources and an audio recording. The New York Times reported on other details from the audio recording of the incident the following morning.
Also over the past two days, comments by both President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo indicate that the US will let Saudi Arabia investigate what happened to Khashoggirather than getting involved themselves. That likely won’t lead to an independent outcome, but the administration won’t cast any blame until the probe is complete.
Put together, it appears that the Saudis murdered an American resident — and the American president will let it slide, at least for now.
The left-wing media are really flapping their wings about it, so here is the million dollar question: why should we care that the Saudis cut another Saudi in pieces?

    Here is the answer:

We should not care at all. This is just another left-wing media attempt to criticize our beloved President Trump (). The US has been supporting bloody dictators for decades. What we always cared about - and the only thing we should care for in regards to international politics - was more money for us, not pain and suffering of brown people.

We did not punish our guy Pinochet for killing intellectuals, Indians, teenagers, and other suspected communists in Chile. We supported and paid for the "dirty war" in Argentina (again, killing intellectuals, teenagers, and other suspected communists; as far as the Indians go, the Argentinians took care of that problem much earlier). We installed the Iranian Shah via a military coup, replacing an inconvenient democratically elected government there, letting him do whatever he wanted until there was another military coup (unfortunately for us, not one that we sponsored). Today, we continue to support well-known drug lords in Afghanistan. Etc, etc, etc.

In Saudi Arabia itself, we never cared that this country executes dozens of people every month, for crimes ranging from witchcraft through apostasy to homosexuality. When President Bush didn't care, the left wing media did not protest. When President Obama didn't care, the left wing media did not protest. Now, President Trump dismisses a case of just one killing by the Saudi government, and left wing media are making a scandal out of it?!?

    Ridiculous.

Besides, we should be happy. With the Saudis killing Khashoggi, it is a win-win for . One, Muslims killing other Muslims is a net gain for Christians, as it means they are not busy killing Christians. Two, a dead Muslim is a Muslim who will not blow up a building. Khashoggi was a US resident, which means the danger was really close!!!

This guy was a troublemaker. He was also a foreign born journalist living in the United States, which is dangerous because they use the U.S.A. as a shield and think we should protect them. Not to mention a Muslim and probably related to Osama Bin Laden.

Trump should cancel the visas of all foreign born journalists. What are they doing here?
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

And here's something else, Sister Basilissa. The writer criticized the leader of Saudi Arabia. It happens this leader is a good friend of both President Trump and his son-in-law, Jerad Kushner. Journalists must learn there are consequences to criticizing the House of Trump and his friends.

Khashoggi (sounds like some Polish dumpling) was a friend of Osama Bin Laden with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. He had a Visa to be in the US (no doubt supplied by the CIA under Obama's communist director) and was a "journalist" for the Washington Compost (another member of the communist MSM) - and was also a critic of the Saudi royal family.

Nobody really knows where Khashoggi is right now - other than some "leaked" rumors typical of the "fake news" MSM. As the Saudi's say - where's the body?

If you happen to be "legally" in the US why would anyone in their right mind and with adequate IQ travel to a mooselimb country? Khashoggi should be nominated for a Darwin award (possibly posthumously).

Well if he is dead - and there seems to be no evidence that he is - then the cause is more likely to be food poisoning from a dodgy Turkish kebab.

The official story from Saudi Arabia is that this man tripped over into someone fist a few time and then (unlucky man) tripped over again into a pair of scissors, inadvertently dismembering himself into small pieces that fell into a box that just happened to be being driven to the Consulate and was then accidentally incinerated. It's a series of unfortunate steps including - lastly - the destruction of all evidence by random closure of the Embassy for 14 days for emergency clean up.

All completely innocent. I recommend a limited scope investigation into the dangers of falling over, if anything.
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

I see your point, Sister Mitza. In the opening post, I explained all the existing reasons why we should not care about his death, and I failed to provide any reason why we should. That's the point, though - there seems to be no reason whatsoever why we should feel offended about one allied authoritarian government applying the permanent solution to its opposition, while both in the past and currently we have been actively supporting authoritarian governments for doing the same.

All of this hand wringing over the now long dead Khashoggi is moot. That is because the Saudi Prince has issued a statement of condolences to the Khashoggi family.

This gesture is really touching when we recognize the terrible things Khashoggi wrote about the Crown Prince. Like President Trump, the Crown Prince has a big heart and that is what we see in the condolence he issued.

Very touching analysis, Mr. Mayor. As the liberals like to quote their late social justice leader Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?" Here is their chance for them to step up to the plate and show us they can, in fact, get along.
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Lèse-majesté is against the law in Saudi Arabia. The embassy is Saudi Arabian territory.

Imagine if marihuana was legal everywhere except Freedonia. For comedic effect you stick a big fat reefer in your mouth and swank into the Freedonian embassy, or any other Freedonian territory, thinking your satire will pass off smoothly. But a passing firefly ignites the thing and fumes billow everywhere. You are within Freedonian jurisdiction and whatever penalty they have for the stuff will be exacted.

I think the condolences from Adel al-Jubeir under these circumstances show a degree of humility almost entirely absent from the occident.

My oldest boys seemed surprisingly upset about this story, but on closer questioning it turned out that they thought that Adnan Khashoggi had been killed. They were particularly fond of him, as he used to bring them the most delightful gifts when he came for dinner. Such a thoughtful man.

I suppose I will now have to tell them that he is dead too?
