Florida pastor arrested after church seen jammed for Sunday service during pandemic

I've heard this on the news today, and it made me cry thinking of persecuted Christians, but at the same time I felt overcome with joy that this sort of thing would never happen in Freehold - Mayor Hold would never allow it.

A Florida pastor was arrested Monday at his home one day after his church was packed with worshippers, despite a local "safer-at-home" order that was designed to help curb the spread of coronavirus, reports CBS Tampa affiliate WTSP-TV. A live-stream of the service at The River at Tampa Bay Church showed its crowded main sanctuary.

According to WTSP, the sheriff told church leaders they were in direct violation of the order that was issued by Hillsborough County officials and went into effect Friday. It requires that businesses and organizations considered essential abide by social distancing guidelines and keep people 6 feet away from each other or shut down.
Of course, the church had a Godly explanation for why it didn't obey the orders:

In a statement posted earlier this month on Facebook and on its website, the church explained why it's keeping its doors open when so many other places across the state and nation are closing.
The statement read in part, "In a time of national crisis, we expect certain institutions to be open and certain people to be on duty. We expect hospitals to have their doors open 24/7 to receive and treat patients. We expect our police and firefighters to be ready and available to rescue and to help and to keep the peace. The Church is another one of those essential services. It is a place where people turn for help and for comfort in a climate of fear and uncertainty.
"Therefore, we feel that it would be wrong for us to close our doors on them, at this time, or any time. In a time of crisis, people are fearful and in need of comfort and community, more than ever before."
Can I hear an Amen? Yes, churches are essential, and yes, we need to cram into churches now more then ever! The only way of avoiding the coronavirus is praising Jesus as loud as we can in packed churches!!
God created fossils to test our faith.

Oh, what is next? Churches paying taxes?

I will pray for this Pastor.

Oh, and I shall join you in prayer, dear Brother Gonzalez. As a matter of fact, Pastor Howard will be lifted in prayer at the Wednesday Afternoon McGill Street Ladies' Prayer Meeting, Bible Study and Tea & Social, which shall be held this week at Sister Priscilla's home (oh, how I adore her lovely, little, luscious lemon tartlets!)

Anyway, I don't see why they had to arrest that poor preacher. He always seems like such a cheerful pastor to me, as you'll see in the video below. Surely, the police are just jealous of his sharing the joy of the ! And, I might, add, having joy is perfectly legal, as shown with the pages of the blessed .

      Galatians 5:22, 23:
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

I've not heard of this Pastor until today. He is from Africa but he looks like an American. Is he a former Negroe?

Oh, it's highly possible, dear Brother Moss. Goodness, if this is the case, then it would not be the first that we've heard of this. Why, it wasn't all that long ago, really, when the world found out that that Michael Jacksons fellow had converted, too.

Was the picture on the right taken post mortem? Because he doesn't really look alive.

Re: Pastor in Florida Persecuted for Being a Good Christian

The government is really promoting dishonesty and deception with moves like this. Just because politicians tend to lie doesn't mean they have to force that on anyone else.
Yeah, circumstances changed, but that always happen. The weather, the cost of doing business, global pandemic virus, etc. Isn't the concept behind promises that they remain immune to changes circumstances?

Imagine if this was acceptable in other cases. "Yes, I hired you as a construction worker and you came into work, but my expenses went up so I won't pay you for the last 2 weeks, sorry. Payment cancellation".

"Yes, I promised to back you up in that fight with the bully, but I didn't realize how tough he was. I'm going to bailout, my bad"

"Yes, we promised to get that package to you in time for Christmas, but turns out we got more orders than expected plus it rained, oops. We'll get it to you by New Years maybe".

True test of character in my view is keeping your commitments when it's not easy to do.

To all these companies saying "safety of our employees and customers comes first bla bla bla", I don't give a rat's patootie about that.
I'm willing to bet I'm not the exception either. Look at how successful Apple and Walmart and Amazon are despite their brutal working conditions. The people who ignore bad working conditions aren't "aberrations of society" they're the norm. Those who care enough to boycott and take other actions are the unusual ones. Almost no one really cares all that much about "safety of the employee" aall that much and this Corona issue which has a 98% survival rating, higher people under 40 should be no exception.

As for my safety, I don't need a company telling me where I am or am not safe. Virus or not I'm protected by Jesus, so I'd be perfectly safe https://www.landoverbaptist.net/show....php?p=1265731 . People who are too afraid of the virus to attend may stay at home. It's as simple as that.

It's a huge moral crisis in our country when it's promoting unreliability. Step up, be a man and keep your commitments. This pastor is doing just that and get's persecuted. SAD
Close minded people are just right people who don't want to spend time arguing.

I tell you who should be arrested. The lazy negro pastors who decided not to hold service last sunday and use the god forsaken internet. Everyone knows the internet has filth such as BET Online, Youtubes, and blackpeoplemeet.com to have pre marital sexual relations. My pastor had services last Sunday and I turned out just fine. This Florida pastor shouldn’t be arrested for being faithful to White Jesus. God bless him.
