If you look at the origin bible the world for 'days' could of been translated to 'eons' which fit with sciences viewpoint.

Really, so you're saying that the Judean people were so stupid that they couldn't explain the difference between a day, a year, or a eon? Anyway, even if you buy the "God's day is a thousand years" argument, it would still mean that the earth is 12,000 years old, a long cry from your "billions".

But if God had meant "eon" he would have said "eon". If God had meant "a ball" he would have said "a ball" not a circle.

I prefer to look at the Bible with a lot of metaphors otherwise it wouldn't conform with science so, 'lies on pillars' I wouldn't think of that literally. Science and God must co-exist otherwise we couldn't understand this world!

I see, so you know better than God. You just decide what to believe and what not to and call yourself a Christian. I'm sure that God will be really impressed with your superior intelligence on judgment day.

Starting with your last point, I don't doubt the metaphorical of this. Vast amounts of the Bible are parabols, stories - these are not true but just used to tell messages! I am not totally denying God's miracles, not at all but I don't find it all necessary to take everything literally, especially in the old testiment.

The Bible isn't parasols or umbrellas or anything else...it is the inerrant Word of the Lord. You might not find it necessary to take God's word literally but we here at Landover do heathen.

Admittedly your first point is intriguing, but I still find it fascinating that the universe could be created in 6 days, but all our observations of our surrounding universe point to it being 13.4 billion years old and to be expanding, which fits with all the scientific theories.

Fascinating? I find it amazing and wonderous and it shows the awesome power of the Lord.....GLORY!!

Science with God, I'm curious. You claim to be a Christian, but you seem rather happy jettisoning God's word in favor of an alternative secular explanation. Please answer these:

Do you believe that Jesus Christ died and resurrected three days later and later His body ascended into Heaven?
Was He born of a virgin?
Did Jesus fulfill the prophecies in the Old Testament?
Will the dead reanimate during the End Times?
Did Noah's Ark really happen?
What about the Tower of Babel?
Did Jesus perform miracles (healing the blind, feeding thousands with a few fish and loaves of bread, walking on water)?

The only people who claim that the Holy Bible is metaphorical are false Christians who want to have their cake and eat it too. They cherry-pick verses of Scripture that do not conflict with their vain, preconceived worldview just as they cherry-pick the so-called "findings" of secular science to fit what they would like to believe is true. True Christians(tm) follow the entire Bible, and our discernment in determining what is True and what is not is guided by the Holy Spirit. Not once has the Spirit told me to ignore a single verse of Scripture.

Then it seems you have a choice to make. Are you going to follow the Word of God and be guided by the Holy Spirit, or are you going to be deceived by fallen men who concoct these bizarre "theories" either out of ignorance or contempt for the Judeo-Christian Principles upon which our Great Nation was founded? Again, not to be repetitive, I suggest you contemplate on the following verse of Scripture. I do not think that it can be overemphasized.

Are you familiar with Occam's Razor? Simply put, it is a principle that states that the simplest explanation is always correct. What simpler explanation could there be for these questions (which, incidentally, are largely beside the point, as they are not Salvation(tm) issues) than to just say "the Bible is right"?

Let's take a look at the semantics, shall we?

For in six days

days=yowm in Hebrew.

Strong's defines yowm as

b) day (24 hour period)
1) as defined by evening and morning in Genesis 1
2) as a division of time
a) a working day, a day's journey


For yet seven days yowm , and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days yowm and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

More metaphor for aeon?

Num 11:19 Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days yowm , neither ten days, nor twenty days yowm ;

That is a long time to go without eating.

The term aeon is Greek. Let's look at the Greek Septuagint. The Greek Old Testament hmera is used for day. Our friends over at studylight define hmera as

the day, used of the natural day, or the interval between sunrise and sunset, as distinguished from and contrasted with the night.

Do you still think the Bible is referring to a metaphorical day?

And where do you get 13 billion years as told by the Bible? Gerald L. Schroeder's claptrap? Read some literary criticism on that blasphemy "The Science of God."

We know the Earth is flat because the Bible tells us so. But for those of you skeptical, close-minded types that flat out refuse to accept the overwhelming Biblical evidence, I have designed some experiments you can do at home that will show you, before your very eyes, that the world is indeed flat, and not spherical as some crazy scientists proclaim. It's amazing how many people blindly believe in a spherical Earth, without ever having seen it for themselves! I intend to change that.


1) Jump!
Now, scientists claim that Earth is spherical and rotating at a speed of between 700-1000 miles per hour, depending on your latitude. This is a very high rate of speed. You can disprove this nonsense by simply jumping up as high as you can. Really, it's that simple. What happens when you jump? You come straight down to where you were. But, if the Earth were indeed spinning at such a fast speed, wouldn't you land hundreds of feet away?

If you were to stand in the flat bed of a truck going 75 mph, and jump straight up, what would happen? You wouldn't fall straight down. You would fall out of the truck. That's because trucks move, the Earth doesn't. This experiment proves the Earth is fixed in space and doesn't move.


2) Blow!
Since if the Earth is supposedly a sphere, it naturally comes to assume what would happen to people below the equator, like in Australia? Since they are underneath the sphere, wouldn't they fall off? This is where scientists come up with mumbo-jumbo like "gravity" and "centrifugal force" to explain away their theories. So, the scientists want you to think that because the earth is so much more massive than people or things, that people will naturally "stick" to the bottom of the earth because of gravity.

This can be disproved very simply. Get a balloon and inflate it as big as possible. It will be a spherical shape. Now, take a piece of paper and try to rip, tear, or cut the tiniest speck of paper possible. This paper represents a human being, much smaller in mass to the balloon, which represents the Earth. Now try and place the small piece of paper to the underside of the balloon. What happens? It falls off!

That's right. Even though the balloon is so much bigger in mass, it cannot hold the tiny paper. So if the Earth was a sphere, no one could live below the equator because they would fall off.


3) Get High!
Ok, this one you really can't do at home, but you can do it out in the world. Stand on the ground and look around you. What's the farthest you can see? Maybe it's a building, tree, or mountain. Now, find some place very close to it where you can get a much higher vantage point. (This also works if you're on a jet and about to take off.) Notice how in the higher place you can see much farther? You can see more of the world the higher you get. This shows the world is flat because the higher you go, the easier it is to see over obstacles. At the same time, it shows the world cannot be spherical. Because if the world was curved, the far distance would forever remain out of view because of the Earth's curvature. It would eternally be over the horizon.

If the Earth was a sphere, it would not matter how high you went, you would still see the same thing. Since this is not the case, the Earth is flat.


These experiments are all confirmed by creation scientists as being 100% accurate. If you're skeptical of the flat Earth, why don't you do these experiments so you can see truth with your own eyes.

Wow. These experiments gave me a great oppertunity to go outside and enjoy the oh-so-lovely day!! Here are my conclusions:

#1- I have wondered that ever since I was a little girl. And it makes alot of sense!! I jumped for an hour, always ending up in exact same spot! Outcome:

#2- Another lovely fact! I decorated my balloon to look like the earth before attempting. (Great craft project/learning experience for children!)

#3- My favorite of the 3. I got a great workout walking from place to place and enjoying God's lovely creation! I also came to the same conclusion!

By the way, you can't see forever because of two factors:

1. The human eye can only see so far away.
2. The earth is not perfectly flat. There are mountains, valleys, and on the ocean, waves. Tsunamis in the open ocean can reach hundreds, if not thousands of feet high.

This has been answered 5,000 times in the thread already. No. The earth is surrounded by Antarctica which is a wall of ice. A map of a flat earth will make that readily apparent to you.
