The average weight of an american male is 86kg
That means 6.98x10^22 kg of earth for one of you.
A balloon weighs less that a gram
The smallest piece of paper you can cut will never be small enough to simulate gravity effect.
And i guaranty if there wasn't 6,000,000,000,000 ,000,000,000 metric tonnes underneath you the paper would orbit just fine.

The Earth is like a giant car...when you get in a car crash without a seatbelt, you fly through the window, however when the car is moving you go just as fast as it does until you slowly break and return to the normal speed of the earth. The same rule applies to objects inside the car: when you throw your phone up in the air and catch it, it doesn't fly ten feet behind you (because of that inertia). The same applies when you jump on the ground--because you're going as fast as the earth is spinning and orbiting the sun, you don't suddenly fall behind it as you fall back down.

The difference is that the car is an inside environment. Now, say you're in the same car and you put your arm outside the window with the phone. Throw it ten feet up in the air. Will it land straight down in your hand? No. It will be blown far behind the car.

For argument's sake, I will assume the Earth is traveling at 800 mph. A person standing on the ground is essentially traveling at 800 mph. I understand that. But what nobody realizes is that the minute you jump up, you're free from the Earth and you would get blown away. When you're in a car, you have glass and metal protecting you. Outside, there is nothing.

Think of being on a treadmill. When you jump up, do you land on the same part of the tread as when you jumped? No. Because the tread travels beneath your feet while you are in the air. If the Earth was moving, it would be doing the same thing.

This is some of the stupidest stuff I have ever heard in my life.

I have nothing against theists (of any religion). You are free to believe what you want - and I respect that. But this... this is scientific blasphemy. I am an engineering major and physics minor at the University of Michigan. If you so desire, I can explain to you why ALL of your arguments are non-factual. Come on guys, this stuff has been KNOWN for over 200 years (referring to the laws of physics and mathematics of course).

It must be very convenient to be able to use all of the awesome technologies that the fields of math, physics, chemistry, and engineering have brought to the human race, yet immediately dismiss everything that doesn't fit into your ideologies.

We would not have (and this is a list that could go on forever) cars, cell phones, computers/internet, any form of electricity, etc... etc.... etc... if it weren't for the human race's comprehensive knowledge of physics. You use ALL of these things on a daily basis. ALL of these things were created using the fundamental principles of physics. These same principles PROVE, without a BIT of doubt that the Earth is round. WE HAVE PICTURES OF THE SPHERICAL EARTH TAKEN FROM ORBIT. DO YOU NOT BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE EVER PUT A CAMERA INTO SPACE?

Come on guys, you can believe in God and the laws of physics at the same time.
