Quite a fascinating series of tests and certainly quite a few responses to it. I suppose I'll try and help to see if I can help explain some of this.

1)Jumping

This is a fascinating experiment, and based on physics, you may have heard that an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force? Newton's first law of motion. It then stands to reason that when you're in or on a moving object (be it the Earth or a car), you will end up going the same speed as it. If this was not true then if you were driving in a car, you would be pushed more and more against your seat the faster you go. But you only feel this when you accelerate. I have actually had fun trying to jump in the back of a large truck and I didn't fly off at all! If you did, it would likely be due to resistance caused by the air.

2) Gravity

This isn't something that's been well-described by most that I've read here one way or the other. Gravity does indeed exist in everything that has mass. However when you get down to a certain size, it's nearly imperceptible. Not to mention a balloon is a good choice for explaining the horizon, but poor for talking about gravity. With the experiment of putting a tiny piece of paper on a balloon and then turning the balloon around. Of course, the paper's going to fall off. It's because the Earth's gravitational force is so much greater that it would be impossible for it to stay on the balloon (unless there's another force like an electrostatic charge that can hold a piece of paper to a balloon in that case). Also, air pressure has very little to do with gravity at all. It is not what holds us to the ground as air pressure doesn't discriminate direction of pressure. This is the entire reason that enables planes and birds to fly. If air pressure only pushed down towards the Earth, it would be impossible for anything to fly.

3) Getting High

This is entertaining, but it doesn't really give a full scope of understanding. Yes, if the Earth was round you would think that you would see less the higher you go up. But part of the problem is the fact that regardless of whether you're on a flat earth or a round one, the higher up you go, the more you will see. The main difference is that if the world were flat, you would see much more of it. In fact, with a telescope and clear skies, you should be able to see an incredible distance! But there is a limit to the distance you can see. A simple experiment to try that I've spoken of before involves a good set of eyes or use of a telescope. Point it to an outgoing ship on the water and if you watch it go far enough, you will see it slowly start to dip underneath the horizon. This can show that there is in fact a curvature of the Earth.

Also, to comment about being on an island and looking around you, of course you will end up at the same point if you turn around. It's a matter of perspective. It's a similar effect kind of like if you drew a large circle around you, from your vantage point of straight ahead it would appear a straight line. But if you were to look at it from a greater height or distance, you would recognize it to be a circle. Very similar principle here.

I hope what I've said may be of help to some people. It may be too wordy or complicated to some, but not all things can be explained in just a few words. Thank you very much!

Balloons are extremely light the earth is so much denser i mean seriously, balloons are filled with AIR. also the tiniest piece of paper you can tear compared a balloon is still huge compared to the ratio of a human to Earth. We know the Earth is flat because the Bible tells us so. But for those of you skeptical, close-minded types that flat out refuse to accept the overwhelming Biblical evidence, I have designed some experiments you can do at home that will show you, before your very eyes, that the world is indeed flat, and not spherical as some crazy scientists proclaim. It's amazing how many people blindly believe in a spherical Earth, without ever having seen it for themselves! I intend to change that.


1) Jump!
Now, scientists claim that Earth is spherical and rotating at a speed of between 700-1000 miles per hour, depending on your latitude. This is a very high rate of speed. You can disprove this nonsense by simply jumping up as high as you can. Really, it's that simple. What happens when you jump? You come straight down to where you were. But, if the Earth were indeed spinning at such a fast speed, wouldn't you land hundreds of feet away?

If you were to stand in the flat bed of a truck going 75 mph, and jump straight up, what would happen? You wouldn't fall straight down. You would fall out of the truck. That's because trucks move, the Earth doesn't. This experiment proves the Earth is fixed in space and doesn't move.


2) Blow!
Since if the Earth is supposedly a sphere, it naturally comes to assume what would happen to people below the equator, like in Australia? Since they are underneath the sphere, wouldn't they fall off? This is where scientists come up with mumbo-jumbo like "gravity" and "centrifugal force" to explain away their theories. So, the scientists want you to think that because the earth is so much more massive than people or things, that people will naturally "stick" to the bottom of the earth because of gravity.

This can be disproved very simply. Get a balloon and inflate it as big as possible. It will be a spherical shape. Now, take a piece of paper and try to rip, tear, or cut the tiniest speck of paper possible. This paper represents a human being, much smaller in mass to the balloon, which represents the Earth. Now try and place the small piece of paper to the underside of the balloon. What happens? It falls off!

That's right. Even though the balloon is so much bigger in mass, it cannot hold the tiny paper. So if the Earth was a sphere, no one could live below the equator because they would fall off.


3) Get High!
Ok, this one you really can't do at home, but you can do it out in the world. Stand on the ground and look around you. What's the farthest you can see? Maybe it's a building, tree, or mountain. Now, find some place very close to it where you can get a much higher vantage point. (This also works if you're on a jet and about to take off.) Notice how in the higher place you can see much farther? You can see more of the world the higher you get. This shows the world is flat because the higher you go, the easier it is to see over obstacles. At the same time, it shows the world cannot be spherical. Because if the world was curved, the far distance would forever remain out of view because of the Earth's curvature. It would eternally be over the horizon.

If the Earth was a sphere, it would not matter how high you went, you would still see the same thing. Since this is not the case, the Earth is flat.


These experiments are all confirmed by creation scientists as being 100% accurate. If you're skeptical of the flat Earth, why don't you do these experiments so you can see truth with your own eyes.

Rebuttals to every "experiment":

1) the reason that you only appear to move "up" when you jump into the air, is because of the conservation of momentum. You're standing on the world, which is spinning. When you jump in the air, you continue to move forward, however, the earth moves at the same speed, so you don't see it. It you were riding a skate board, and you jumped into the air, you would be moving while in the air, but the skate board would be moving at the same speed, so you would land back on the skateboard.

2) I don't think that you understand how large the earth really is. The circumference of the earth is approximately 24,901 miles. If you were to try and walk around the entire world, without ever taking a single break, it would take you almost four years! Also, you would need to be able to swim for months on end, without stopping. The average arm span of an adult male is about 4 feet. There are 5280 feet in a mile. That means that if you took enough people to wrap around the world, it would take you 32,869,320 adults to stretch all the way around the world. Also, the gravity of the planet earth pulls everything on it towards it's center of gravity, so by placing a piece of paper on a baloon, All that is going to happen, is the paper being pulled toward the earth, because the earth has more mass than a tiny balloon.

3) have you ever looked out far away into the sky, to look at a bird? That bird that looks so far away, probably isn't even one mile away from you. Imagine that distance, times almost 30,000. Now, imagine a small circle, and imagine standing on top of it. You can easily see the curves. However, on a very VERY large circle, the curve would be too long and subtle for you to see. It's the same case with the planet earth.

Tada, fixed all of the flaws in your "experiments!" have fun learning REAL science, kids!

Christianity and science are not compatible. The Bible has to be accepted as the inerrant word of God otherwise it makes no sense. If you think the Earth is spherical or that donkeys can't talk then you would have to say the Bible was just written by men and not by God. Why you accept a virgin birth and a resurrection if your only source was from a few unknown men. That would just be crazy.

The Bible is like a house of cards. If you take one away it all tumbles. That is why True Christians KNOW it is God's word and reject the claims of science.

Thanks for agreeing with us that you can't see the curvature of the Earth when looking at the horizon. We have had probably hundreds of fools who have tried to use this as evidence!

I'm afraid that I need to correct one of the statements made here. With a glass of water, the edges turn upward more because of the properties of water than gravity. It's call adhesion. Which is a tendency for water to stick to other surfaces. More so to other surfaces that have polar molecules. So that doesn't really demonstrate gravity particularly well.

No, polar molecules are not some sort of Canadian Ice Hockey team. It's a term used for any molecule that has a negative side and a positive side to the molecule (though this is a bit simplistic as some molecules can have multiple areas of negative and positive charge. Such as in many proteins). It's what gives water and other polar molecules unique properties and is pretty much the only reason why we can have hydrogen bonds between various molecules.

This polarity in water is what causes adhesion and cohesion. Adhesion being how water can stick to another dissimilar surface (granted, there are several ways Adhesion can occur. I'm talking about chemical adhesion for this). This is like how dew forms on plants, where it sticks to a plant's surface without falling off. And then there's Cohesion, which is the tendency for similar polar molecules to stick together. And water is a good example of this property. This is why drops of water tend to be spherical (Also like how you see in dew drops, for sake of a simple example). It is also why rain drops are spherical as well.

Granted, this is all a scientific explanation because science tries to use natural means by which to explain a phenomena. If you say God made it that way, that is fine. I will not convince you otherwise. The point of this was to further explain what I meant with my earlier post. And considering I believe water has only been turned to wine by only Jesus, wasn't it? So, it would seem that it takes more than just being "of the Spirit" to be able to change water into wine.

The quote of Timothy there is a fair rebuttal, I suppose. It is a warning to Timothy that he not accept the claims of false knowledge that have incorrectly spoken of the Good Word. So, I will probably not convince you this knowledge is not false knowledge or is not trying to speak directly against the word of God.

To Mr. Hutchins. I do try to remain as accurate and concise as possible. There are some who do poor jobs of explaining certain things, making a bit of a fool of themselves a little bit. I hope I have at least done a better job of it. It is true that certain things can change in science based on new information. But that is because as human beings, we cannot know everything about everything. That does not mean that we don't strive to understand the things around us. Unfortunately, science is not content with just accepting that things are as they are just because God did it. Scientists wish to understand 'why' things are the way they are. Religion specifically disallows you to even try to search for those reasons if they conflict with anything in their holy text. This is understandable because if any part of the Bible or other holy book were to be found untrue, then it would mean anything else within it could be untrue. This is why any of the main religions of the world have to believe the words of their holy word as being of the hand of God (or their equivalent). You may be content with this, most scientists are not. For better or worse, it appears to be a part of Human nature that we question things. This is not a surprise I'm sure.
