Science does not require faith on any level - which if you ask me is one of the main differences between religion and science. Religion requires you to have faith otherwise be eternally damned as so many of the forum members have pointed out. Your belief is that nothing good can happen to an individual if they are a nonbeliever and at the same time, everything that goes wrong in that individual's life is because they do not believe.

Science will work the same regardless what you believe. If you were to enter a room and flip the switch, the lights would turn on whether you believed in science or not. Even if the lights do not turn on, there is a way to fix it by hand - whether it's changing the bulb, switch, light fixture or electricity. Nothing is left to belief.

I do not expect any minds to be changed here as many of your forum members have such a strong and passionate belief in God nor do I harbor any ill will towards anyone (despite what you may wish upon me as a non believer).

As time continues to move on, it will only be a matter of time before an individual can see the Earth from space with their own eyes and be able to tell that the Earth is indeed round. It can be anything from simple defective parts to wear and tear - all man made causes. Much like how your shoe wears down over time, the light bulb too will wear down over time. No matter how free of sin you are, things will always break down because man is not perfect. Simply saying that the only thing to cause things to break down is because of sin is to imply that anything man makes is perfect in anyway and can only be ruined with sin.

Although that sounds like an interesting experience, it is difficult for me to find a lamb - let alone The Lamb of God. If we are speaking in the literal sense anyway. I apologize if I misunderstood that remark as it is difficult to tell when someone is being literal or figurative online.

Anything is possible, however with the current trends - it is unlikely. Looking throughout history there have been instances where things did not work out. The most recent one that comes to mind is the recent rapture that didn't follow through. Of course I will admit that could have been a mistake on man's part, but if someone as into his faith such as Harold Camping could be wrong - who is to say others aren't wrong either?

Then we will move on and take the world as flat. They have no problems admitting they are wrong as long as there is verifiable evidence to support a new way of thinking. You could argue that there is evidence around us, however most people do not see it. It would seem that only those with faith can see the evidence of God. As I said earlier, Science does not require faith. It holds true whether or not you believe in the science or not. Things around science can also be replicated by anyone as long as you have the knowledge and tools to replicate it.

So how would we know if this were real or not?

It's up to you to decide what is real and what isn't. For all you know, this could just simply be a dream just just feels real. I could even be a figment of your imagination. You can take what you want to be real and what you want to be fake. When you question reality, it's up to you decide what you want to see and what you don't want to see.

"Spontaneous Generation" ring a bell? That was "cutting edge science" for generations! Who's to say how quickly your hypotheses today will poop out?

I do not expect any minds to be changed here as many of your forum members have such a strong and passionate belief in God nor do I harbor any ill will towards anyone (despite what you may wish upon me as a non believer).

If you don't harbor any ill will towards anyone, then why are you worried about the future? I think in reality you want to persecute those who believe in the beautiful and mystical realities of life until teaching God-given Truths in schools are illegal.

And for the record, I don't want to anything bad for you, but it isn't my job to judge you. The Almighty Judge (the LORD), however, will not take your rebellion so kindly as we do here. The Spirit of the LORD has led you here to hear the Truth. You would be wise to learn about it, for your own sake.

Actually, Spontaneous Generation helps my point. As I mentioned, it does not take much to change the views of a non-believer. Once something is proven to be false, they will generally accept it and move on as long as there is a way to recreate the experiment that proved it false. We cannot possibly know everything right away - to imply that would be silly. It would be just as silly for you to hear a non-believer say he knows everything about everything just as much as the non-believer hears you say a book written by man centuries ago has the answers to everything.

I worry about the future because I know how many people are passionate and dedicated to your faith. Although Christianity is the more dominate religion, there is no denying that it's numbers are dropping with each passing year. I cannot begin to imagine what it would be like to have something you believe as a definite truth be proven to be false and have your whole concept of the world shattered. I fear that those people who hold onto their faith so closely will have to experience that one day and I don't believe all of them can accept that.

Of course do not get me wrong, I do not wish to see any persecution on any level. Much like how it is only a matter of time before a river can take a rough rock and turn it into a smooth stone, things will eventually change.

I sincerely appreciate the fact that you personally do not wish any ill will on my part and I can only hope to convey the same feelings towards you. I am not here to rebel and despite the tone you believe my messages to be in. I am currently on a spiritual journey of sorts as I mentioned in my introduction post. I do find the passion and devotion you have for God and the bible to be something admirable however I would be lying if I said I did not see flaws within everything. You can take my posts as you will, but I do not wish any offense during my visit to these forums.

That of course was an example. My intent was to show you how both sides, believers and non believers, can regard the other one's knowledge and idea of truth to be "silly". Your reaction to the bible being called "silly" is the same reaction nonbelievers would have if you call their science "silly". It is all a matter of perspective. People are entitled to their beliefs. The bible is much stronger than anything else and should not be so easily offended with a simple word such as "silly".

Many points have been made with negative examples. As true in the bible and in real life, not everything is pleasant. I'm sure one such as yourself should be aware of already. An example is an example. I could technically turn what you said around and point it back at you. I am sure I can find several posts of yours in which you insult nonbelievers. I am simply replying to the comments you have made just as you are replying to mine. After this last message, I shall no longer address you since I do not wish to harass anyone. Much like yourself, I am simply stating my opinions regarding the topics at hand.

To answer your questions, I mentioned before that I am on a spiritual journey of sorts. I found your forum interesting because I have never came across such passionate and devoted members of Christianity. During my time in this "limbo" where I am not sure where to take my life next, should I return to my faithful origins, move onto a non-believer label or stay in the middle.

I do not believe I am smarter in a biblical sense from anyone here - I am sure you as well as anyone else can recite more bible verses and not only preach but live by the bible more so than myself. If we are to talk about secular science, then I believe I may be able to answer some questions you may have or possibly clear up any misunderstandings one may have such as the shape of the planet.

I do not consider myself to be "smarter" as I believe that is a general term and cannot be applied to say anyone is better than the other. I would in no way consider myself to be better than another, I just simply believe there are things I can learn here in areas where you and the other forum members are much more experienced in than myself.

I hope that has answered your questions for this will be the last post I direct at you. I do not wish any ill will nor do I wish to offend, any impressions of me doing so is purely a misunderstanding.

I doubt there is much you can tell a True Christian(tm) about secular science that we don't know better than you.

We've heard all sorts of mumbo-jumbo from people (like you) who claim to have all of the answers, and then they spout off with goodies like: helium-filled balloons have no mass, the Earth's rotation generates gravity, you can see the curvature of the Earth from a treetop, etc. etc.

Pretty pathetic.
