Jump: I jumped up in a train going 100 mph and landed in the same spot! I guess the back-of-the-truck example fails because of air drag! Hey, that makes a whole lot of sense... If you jump up off the ground in 100mph winds, you'll move too! The winds must be from the Earth rotating!

Blow: my piece of paper stuck to the underside of the balloon from static cling. I guess that forces can hold two bodies together! I know that in this case it was static electricity, but I couldn't cut the paper small enough (smaller than the paper's width by several orders of magnitude) to the same scale as human-to-earth in order to test gravitational forces.

Get high: you're right: as this footage from the space shuttle shows (http://m.wimp.com/camerarocket/) the higher you go, the further you can see. Unfortunately, as the video also shows, at high enough altitudes you can see that the Earth is spherical.

Great attempt at hypothesis testing, though!

What if you move from home in a straight line? you could perhabs realyze that aafter a long time you would end up at your home again.

I could explain why all those experiments don't work the way you think they should, but you would just reject it. Do you really teach those things to your children?

If you move from your home in a straight line, you would drown. If you got on a boat and traveled in what you think is a straight line, God would move you along the outer edges of the firmament. It is all documented clearly in this thread. I suggest you read it. All of it before you make an even bigger fool of yourself.

'throughly [sic] rebuked'. I'm perplexed by this. I just followed the good pastor's suggestion to try those three experiments and was reporting in on what the results were. Why would anyone rebuke the results of the experiments that the pastor recommended?

Dear Jim,

There are a view problems with the arguments you make.

Experiment 1:
You don't fly away because you have the same speed as the point on the earth where you jumped from. There shouldn't be a sudden deacceleration. Also, If you are inside a truck, jumping won't cause you to move relative to the truck. However, if you are exposed to the non-moving air outside, the relative motion of you to the air adds a drag force that will let you move away from the truck if you jump. But this will be hard to notice if the truck doesn't go very fast. This problem does occure if for example fighterpilots eject. The sudden exposure to the relative moving air makes you feel like you hit a brick wall.

Experiment 2.
The gravitational force due to mass is not dependend on the relative mass between the two objects but the 'absolute mass' of both objects. A balloon is way to light to have a gravitational pull. Only extremely huge masses attract other masses, even when the other mass is equally heavy. Its often said that the weight of the falling object doesn't contribute tot the force acting on this, but this is only true because we don't have object heavy enought for its weight to add to the gravitiational force. At least, not enought for us to be able to measure it.

Experiment 3.
What you say about getting higher allowing you to see farther is true. However, I don't get the impression you have a clue about the insane and immens size of the planet. The height at which aircraft fly will still make it difficult to notice the curvature of this planet. Also, the reason you can see further if you go higher is because you are able to see points of this planet the curve is no longer obstructing.

No We Know The Earth Is Round Because SCIENTISTS Tell Us Im Not saying anything like that just stick with me maybe the earth was flat a loooooong time ago and then one day he decided that he would make it round...Exept That is not what Scientist tells us who are you going to trust scientist with all the high tech tools or a book writen a LOOOOOONG Time ago and btw it has contradictions in it one being that the earth was not created 6,000 years ago it was created Billions and Billions Of Years Ago.

The Bible doesn't say the earth was created billions and billions of years ago, but if you add up the genealogies you will reach the conclusion the earth is about 6,000 years old. Where's the contradiction?

I was saying that the bible say it was created 6,000 years ago but solid scientific facts say it was created billions of years ago.
