I'm an atheist because there is no evidence that God exists. There is as much evidence for the Christian God existing as the Roman Pantheon or Hindu belief system. Furthermore I find it hard to believe in a god which is omni-benevolent, and yet would send me to Hell just for not believing him? He would be infinitely vengeful and infinitely unforgiving when he punishes me for all eternity. After all it IS god, why should he care?

Tell me I'm going to go to Hell if you like, I don't care; it won't affect me or worry because I do not believe such a place exists.

Just thought I'd contribute.

God cares because He demands our worship and obedience. Haven't you ever read the ten commandments?

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Tell me I'm going to go to Hell if you like, I don't care; it won't affect me or worry because I do not believe such a place exists.

You're going to hell. It's going to seem very real to you when the only respite from the flames of hell is Satan poking you with his trident.

You worship an unjust God, and if Heaven were to truly exist I would surely not like to worship your hateful God. The God that I knew growing up was all loving and forgiving.

In the end you have no proof that God exists except "personal experiences" which are blindly attributed to God and can never be varified.

Marcus Aurelius was not an atheist, and believed in the Fates determining what would happen to people. This is a recurring theme throughout the Meditations, along with his gratitude to . . . to what? Oh, the GODS.

Gods? Oh dear is he a polytheist? You must not even contemplate using a polytheists words, you will become corrupted by typing them and I fear for your soul in this case! Having said that, I do not care. The God that you worship sounds like a real horrible entity. I shan't be worshipping your God. Perhaps one day I will become a Christian again, but I surely will not be as hateful as you!
