Having your daughter knowingly raped is a crime by the laws of our government, and is therefore against God to engage in.

Indeed it does. But if you read the original post closely, Cranky Old Man merely offers it as a suggestion, and has never allowed his own daughters to be raped. Right now, under secular law, it would be illegal. No one here is letting their daughters be willingly raped because that would be against the law.

However, if we as Christians band together and form a strong political bloc, we can influence secular law so that it fits in accordance with what God commands of us. With Sarah Palin and other Bible-believing Christians taking part in a new American Revolution, this may be a reality soon enough. Doesn't that just want to make you jump up and shout "GLORY!"?

without getting into biblical debate (as I admitedly am not that well read on the bible and will probably lose an argument based on spitting verse at one another) i am astounded by the ignorance of context and appreciation of the history of the bible.

1/ the king james version was translated at least 5 times from the original unspoken versions of the gospels to KJ english. Some words do not translate directly, and words are substituted. With this in mind i point to the earlier argument on judging and the use of the word in biblical texts. You say that the Word must be obeyed? who are you to say what the original word is? I doubt you have any clue, as you may well be able to memorise large tracts of the bible, but to really understand you need to be able to contextualise it.

2/ the quote above has a cartoon against the 'evil' roman catholic church. Which is funny.... you obey literally the books in the bible (and dismiss any other gospels that have been discredited and/or omitted), but the bible and its books were selected BY the Roman Catholic church. Seems odd to me... hyporcite? perhaps you should read up on what your signature suggests Ezekiel

3/ It really dismays me that many of you warped beings are proclaimed teachers of faith. It makes defending and propogating Christianity so much harder. One of you has letters after their name... PhD at that... am assuming its not in theology or from a reputable organisation.

4/ Tele-evangelists. As a whole you never sit right with me... you can probably blame a 'liberal' media for that, but nevertheless you strike me as power / money hungry meglomaniacs. The REAL word gets lost in the translation of the theatre you produce.

So you come onto a Christian board and mock us, but don't want to get in a "Biblical debate"? Why do I get the feeling you're the same type of person who goes and mocks the Amish because they don't fight back.

Look, I'm sorry that your reading comprehension is so poor that you cannot read the KJV Bible. I've been reading it since the age of 6, so has my husband, my two oldest children and pretty much every Christian that I know. As for translating, do you believe that God is so weak that he can't keep his own word in order? The KJV Bible has stood the test of time for almost 400 years, all of those other mis-translations didn't show up until the 70's, with the God-mocking Hippies who believed they had to create god in their image. (sorry, cannot capitalize God there, it's such an insult)

So you're one of those fuzzy bunny christians who believe that you should tell people what they want to hear instead of what the Bible Truly says? Sure some have PhD's here, but what does it matter? As long as you can read and understand the KJV Bible and follow it's 600+ commandments, why would a degree mean anything?
