  • Hello from London

I will be honest and say that I only registered because someone posted a link to 'Why God hates Britain' and I took exception to the sweeping statements made. However, although I would not term myself a Christian in the true sense of the word, I am registered as Church of England and, although I rarely attend church, I have always said that I don't need to go to church to be a nice person and refer to myself as an agnostic.

It is my belief that 'Religion' is the cause of a lot of the world's problems as none seems to be able to tolerate others' much, all feeling their's is the one true god. I have also found that 'Forgive thine enemies' is not a term a lot of Christians I know are familiar with. I know many of you will say that those are not TRUE Christians but, from what I have read already, there is not a lot of forgiveness apparent here either.

I look forward to meaningful debate.

This is not a debate forum. The purpose of this site is to praise and glorify the Lord, Jesus Christ. It is a place for Christians to fellowship and worship. The goal of the Landover Baptist Church forum is to draw people to Jesus Christ because Scripture confirms that salvation comes only through Him.

Luke 6:22 tells us that because we preach the True doctrine of Jesus, men shall hate us and call us evil. So naturally, we expect that folks will get their feathers ruffled by some of the things they have to say, and they will come on here to argue with us. Perhaps we have said something that upset you. Maybe it was something I said. If so, then I am sorry that you are upset, but I do not apologize for what I have said. My words and thoughts come from the Holy Scriptures. I didn't write the Bible -- God did. So if my words upset you, then you don't have a problem with me -- you have a problem with God.

We tend to get two types of dissenters here. Some are calm and reasonable folks who are capable of rational discussion. I personally enjoy discussing religious topics with this sort of person. Others, however, are angry trolls who are just here to flame us. If you are here to flame us, please read this first.
    What you should have read.

John 5:46,47 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Welcome friend! Always nice when a new person comes. I am glad to hear you have an open mind regarding how we are ruled by God. Now, being God is the creator, there is little to debate about, right? However, it disturbs me to hear you think you have a little Christian in you. Are you sure it is not cathlick? After all, the Church of England is certainly not Christian.
We are all about forgiveness and repenting. Friend, every person is born of sin. Every person on the Earth is a foul, degenerate sinner capable of unspeakable perversions. It is only by renouncing these acts of disgust in front of the congregation and God that we may seek forgiveness. Tell me friend, what have you done that was so disturbing that you are afraid to apologize to Jesus. You can tell me, I can keep a secret.

Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Friend, Hell is full to the point of overflowing with nice people. I suggest you quit worrying about being nice, and focus on getting saved.

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior?

Have you confessed your sins to Him and asked Him to take control of your life?

Have you been baptized by a Baptist preacher?

If you answered "no" to any of those questions, you're going to be one very nice person, burning in Hell for all of eternity.

          @notquitesixty,
I suggest you take most seriously Faith_Machine's message.

Y'know? I have searched the Bible, and the word "nice" simply does not appear in it anywhere, not in the Old Testament, not in the New.

God left it out because "nice" is subjective. You may think that broccoli is "nice", I, on the other hand, see it as soggy little green trees that clog your mouth and are hard to swallow.

In the broader view ad in the Bible KJV1611, God tells us what is right and wrong, and thus what is "nice" and "nasty". He gave these instructions because He knew that people liked having opinions and that Atheists, Agnostics and Catholics would hold their own opinions above His - which is blasphemy.
