Re: Does God hate Finland?
Hello all,
This has been both entertaining and depressing reading this thread. I'm not religious, all I believe in is love, harmony and understanding. I believe those were the cornerstones of Jesus's teachings too? Definately not judgement, as I suppose he made clear when he said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"?
I lived here in Finland with an american girl for three years. She found the schools amazing, the country unbelievably safe (first time i was talking to a taxi driver with her in the car she thought we would surely get kidnapped, because thats what its like in the states), and the people to be kind and warm and loyal. As an animal lover she was also happy to notice that we dont have a stray dog (or other animal) problem at all.
She even had a bit of a scare, thought she might be pregnant and was panicing over how she was going to pay for all the health care costs - before I reminded her that everything regarding hospitals or doctors is free in Finland.
What she didnt like was me getting on her case about recycling, something she wasnt used to doing in the states. She also wasnt happy with the amount of choice in for example a department store, mostly she would just miss some commodities or a flat screen tv. So just stuff. And her family of course, but skype helped with that.
I love that girl dearly, she is one of my best friends. I wouldn't dream of judging her by the fact that she is a citizen of a country that has incredibly high violence rates, masses of homeless people and a healthcare system that lets people die if they don't have money.
From all my heart I hope that all of you find the peace of heart that is understanding and empathizing with other living creatures, living and letting live.
Respectfully, Riina
