  • I need some advice

    Ladies,

I need some sisterly advice!!! While I was tending to my garden a couple of weeks ago the strangest thing happened as I was watering my tomatoes. This little puppy was sound asleep in my cabbage. He was a ragged little thing skinny as a rail. However he was just so happy to see someone. He is very timid so I was really careful. (Needless to say I had to destroy my cabbage )

However, as it turns out he has quickly become part of our family . My boys love him, and since I will be all alone in this big house soon, when they leave for college my youngest suggested I take him as a pet. Naturally, I went to the bible but I am still a little confused, my husband would never allow pets. When I checked the KJV for guidance I remembered these two verses James 3:7 and Isaiah 11:6.

I have had him cleaned and check by a wonderful Christian doctor, and other than being hungry he is perfectly fine. He did snap at a lady who tried to pet him at the doctors office. She is a suspected homer so I cant blame him.

I am just at a loss on what to do. My heart says keep and love him, however my husband would not approve. I am just confused on what to do, I cannot cast away one of God's wonderful creatures, and I am having a really hard time going against my late husbands wishes.

I did get a picture of him so I posted it below. He loves the bed I got in him since we do not have a dog house or a bed for him. I got him a mattress and a sheet set and put him down stairs in the maids room. He does not make messes and he is very clean!

So I have to ask what should I do??? My big heart seems to always get me in to trouble.

Dear, are you sure it's not a fox? On this picture it looks like a fox.

Anyway, didn't you say at some point that you were a widow? If I am mistaken, then you need to ask your husband for permission, not us!

She did say that her husband had passed on, but that was in 2008 and it is possible for her to have remarried by now. Sister, have you been remarried, or do you simply think your husband would have disapproved if he were still with us?

        Sister Basilissa,

Yes you are correct! I am a widow so that is why I am asking!! He is not a fox although when I first saw him, I thought he was! The Doctor told me what he was, but I do not remember things like that.

I would appreciate any advice you have though

          Sister Kate,

He did pass in 2008. I do not know how he would feel about me getting remarried. I am sure my attorney would have something to say about it as well. Considering the estate my husband left me. However, he would defer to a Pastor on the if the subject were to arise. I know I sure would! Heaven forbid I would give the ladies group in Pearland any gossip about me. Now with the boys leaving I sure would love to hear the patter of little feet around the house.

I am just at a loss on this little puppy. I have no man to tell me what to do, so I am on my own. I am sure he would disapprove, then again he was always a man of the Bible.

Wow, that is a tough one! I don't want to give you poor advice and lead you down a sinful path so I fear that I should refrain from giving you too much advice.

However, perhaps you should ask your pastor what he thinks on the matter. If he isn't available I'm sure Pastor Ezekiel would be able to advise you. The dog is adorable though. Was the vet able to determine what breed he was?

I'm sure under the circumstances, your husband would be fine with it. He didn't like dogs, but that doesn't mean that he disapproved of others having dogs. Since he no longer lives in the home, I'm sure he would appreciate you having something to protect you. And your sons are now the men of the house and they approve. There is nothing in the Bible forbidding you from keeping a dog. So go with it if that's what you want.

                  Tara,

As a , I can indeed tell you that you have every right to keep the animal. I would anoint it with oil and have a man of the church pray the demons out of it before long, however. One never knows what foul spirits you'll find lurking out there.

You trust them, believe in them, even offer them your pie, and what do you get in return? Heartaches! Heartaches, I tell you. One day it's all "Oh, what a fine person you are," and "Oh, how sweet and lovely you are," and then the slightest thing happens and it's all, "I need more space," or "I think we should see other people," or "I think you're taking this whole God thing a bit too far," or "STOP FOLLOWING ME!"

Yes - you should keep it. Just don't trust it too far because nothing ever lasts, nothing ever lasts. CHRISTINA? BRING ME THAT AXE!

                  Um - nothing. Nevermind.

                        Re: I need some advice

When God decided Adam needed a companion animal there was only a single human in all creation. We are not told in what order God presented each new creation to Adam but we do know that he rejected the spotted hyæna, the hippopotamus, the flea, the mastodon, the swallow and the dog.
                        GENESIS 2
                        18
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
                        KJV

                        . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

None of these were meet, for the purpose intended, at least not to Adam's eye. Not even a pterodactyl was suitable

Eventually God decided on PLAN B and produced a companion animal meet to helping Adam. It didn't have a name at this stage of course, and when you think about it no name was necessary. Noble Adam could hardly be addressing anyone else when requiring assistance with the task at hand could he? All the intended helpers had failed his visual inspection, or other criteria (they are not specified), but although Adam knew it had been taken from him I must point out that this second attempt at a helper meet for Adam did not itself get any choice in matters of companion.
                        PLAN B
                        21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
                        KJV .. look up

If your husband had a brother he does have an obligation to produce children by proxy. Without disobeying secularist laws, should he command your assistance in any such matter as The LORD lays upon his heart it is meet that you do as he commands in obedience to him as he is to The LORD and with your own companion animal it may be that your time is not wholly at his disposal. Your existing children would need to die first, but that can happen at any time due to an oversight on your part or on the part of your parents or grandparents or great-grandparents or even back to the tenth generation for example an illegitimate birth in the late 1600's could do it.

This is something which needs to be considered when deciding about pets. The Pastors will be happy to advise you I am sure, if you would like to book an appointment just contact Miss Cookie in the office and she'll let you know who is available.
                        I hope that is helpful.

While your sons are the men in the house and they approve, I suggest asking a pastor for what to do! I am sorry I'm not much help, but I'm a foolish young woman! God bless you!
