Well, I'll give you credit for at least knowing your Bible somewhat. You are referring to the verses in Romans, chapter 13, no doubt. Yes, rape is a crime, but there is no legal obligation for a woman to report a rape. If a woman is raped, she chooses whether she goes to the police or not. There is no law dictating she has to. We feel that what is best for this young woman is for her to not press charges and marry the man. Otherwise, she has to deal with long, drawn-out court proceedings, and the humility of having to take the witness stand and describe in excruciating detail her rape to dozens of strangers. Why would you want to put the poor woman through even more pain? That's not very Christianlike, don't you think?
