First off, she DOES NOT have to marry him. She should have that disgusting man arrested.

The Bible is riddled with repetitions and contradictions, things that the Bible bangers would be quick to point out in anything that they want to criticize. For instance, Genesis 1 and 2 disagree about the order in which things are created, and how satisfied God is about the results of his labors. The flood story is really two interwoven stories that contradict each other on how many of each kind of animal are to be brought into the Ark--is it one pair each or seven pairs each of the "clean" ones? The Gospel of John disagrees with the other three Gospels on the activities of Jesus Christ (how long had he stayed in Jerusalem--a couple of days or a whole year?) and all four Gospels contradict each other on the details of Jesus Christ's last moments and resurrection. The Gospels of Matthew and Luke contradict each other on the genealogy of Jesus Christ's father; though both agree that Joseph was not his real father. Repetitions and contradictions are understandable for a hodgepodge collection of documents, but not for some carefully constructed treatise, reflecting a well-thought-out plan.
First of all, this is NOT a debate forum. Please read THIS thread before making an even bigger fool of yourself.

Secondly, while the internets might seem to be "free" to you, this particular corner of the internets is a privately owned Christian forum. The rights you have on this forum are listed HERE. Please contact a Pastor immediately if you feel that any of your rights have been violated.

Finally, your unsaved opinions or tantrums are not even slightly of interest to us. We follow the Holy Word of God TO THE LETTER, and make no apologies for that. One of the most important commandments in the Bible tells us to avoid unsaved scum such as yourself. You wandered in here uninvited, and unwelcome .

Please make a thread of your own in the "Introductions" section of the forum, so that we can properly greet you. Tell us about yourself, your church, and how you came to find Jesus.

And if you're here to flame us, better take a look at THIS before making an even bigger ass out of yourself.

I will pray that the Holy Spirit enter you and chase the demons out of your rectum and let Jesus fill you with His Grace. If you use your God-given free will to reject Christ and His temporary death on the cross for my sins, then you are sending yourself to hellfire.

      Deuteronomy 22:25 (King James Version)

'But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die.'

This kind of puts a hole in your argument. Stop being so selective about the Word of God, and take pity on the poor girl.

Exactomundo! That has to do with a woman who is betrothed. Now keep reading...

        Deuteronomy 22:27-29
For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.
        If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

How about you go to Exodus 22:16 and 17. please note what vs 17 says. The father can refuse the marriage. Anyone who has been raped has been defiled. Anyone who has had premarital sex has been defiled. That makes up a very large percentage of our culture inside the Church and outside. The context of Deut 22:28-29 is not talking about Rape anyways as the King James has the translation wrong. Look at the original word in Hebrew, it is not chazaq which would mean rape, but tephas and shakab. ESV translation, NASB translation and RSV say siezes her and lies with her. In the CEV translation it says "a man talks her into sleeping with her". I think that the CEV is getting it better then any of the translations.

The verses go on to say.
Exodus 22:16-17 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

Thank you for confirming what we already knew. Daughters are property to be bargained away as soon as possible for the best price.

taphas to catch, handle, lay hold, take hold of, seize

No, that has nothing to do with rape.

They all lie and water down the truth of God's Word. You change little words here and there. You borrow from the Latin Vulgate when it makes your little lambchop John 3:16 have a nice day bs sound better. Your garbage is well recognized here.

THIS is why we know for a fact that the KJV bible is the only authentic, True Word of God.

All I can say is that I'm very very grateful for being bought up by my parents and not someone who treats me as a bargaining tool haha
But seriously, tell your daughter to contact the police about her rapist, or crimestoppers if she wants to do it anonymously.
                Best of luck to her

Don't you think the father should do this since he is the victim here? I really find it disgusting how little sympathy liberals have for people who have been injured. You really need get some compassion friend.

The daughter is the primary victim; the father is a secondary victim, and that is because he must feel awful because his daughter had to go through a traumatic ordeal, not because he will find it harder to marry her off to someone.
Believe me, I have PLENTY of compassion for girls (or boys) who are raped; I think it's horrible and that people should be far more supportive of rape victims

The father is the only victim that matters here. As Brother Levi remarked, women are property of the men:

                      Genesis 25:6:
But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

                      Genesis 29:24-29:
And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.
And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?
And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.
Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.
And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.

                      Exodus 20:17:
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

                      1 Kings 11:3:
And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

If someone would steal your flatscreen, how would you like it if people said that the television deserved more pity than you? Your moral ideas are somewhat strange, I'm sorry to say.
                      Sweet Lord Jesus,
I want to pray for those who persecute me, my Lord.
Please, treat their children as you treated those of Egypt, when they upset you! (Psalm 135:8-9)
Dash their little children against the stones for their fathers iniquity! (Psalm 137:8-9)
Hit them on the cheek, and smash out their teeth! (Psalm 3:7)
Make their death and descent into Hell swift and terrible! (Psalm 55:15)
Scatter their broken bodies over the streets of their evil cities, like Benghazi, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Mecca! (Psalm 110:6)
                      Praised be Your Glorious Name™.

                      Amen.

I have to be honest here. I did not read through the 101 pages of replies concerning this very real dilemma.

I wonder however, given the circumstances, the girls father has considered selling his harlot daughter off as a slave?

I have found no texts saying that it is wrong for a father to sell his unchaste daughter off as a slave. It seems like a win-win in theory.

I mean if she is being obstinate enough to REFUSE to marry her rapist, then perhaps that IS the only viable option.

                        There's Jesus here,
Just see what He offers me....
                        Down here my sins forgiven,
Up there a home in heaven
Praise God, That's the way for me!!

Exactly, I agree with you. What 'human' deemed that the KJV is the only accurate bible? If anything, the original Hebrew translation is the only source that we should be referring back.

And yet it has not, if one may observe, made you appreciative of the wonderful words of the Bible.

Given that this is precisely our stated purpose here, I am filled with sadness.

We had hoped to open your eyes to the enduring power of the Bible, instead you continue to delude youself in thinking that it has no relevance for our present day.

There are many, many others who would swear by this relevance, Sparky. They are a real presence in this world, and they are set on reforming it to suit their doctrine. It would be wise of you to acquaint yourself with the Bible so that you can know what to expect.

                                Sincerely Yours,
