And perhaps when the Bible says that homosexuals, witches, disobedient children, non-virgin brides who have been paid for, and those who follow others religions (or none) should all be killed (usually by stoning, but sometimes by fire) it really means whatever you want to pull out of your ass.

Ok, Basilissa. I'll counter his argument. The bible was written for us, but not to us. Which means: the bible's message is for all of humanity, but it was written to influence the people at the time the bible was written. Therefore, we must understand that there are passages in the bible which should be interpreted into a more modern understanding, and some passages which no longer hold any value at all. For example, Exodus 21: 20-21 reads: “When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be avenged. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be avenged, for the slave is his money."
Of course we no longer practice slavery and the vast population finds it's practice immoral. My point is that we must remember the way the world was back when the bible was written and not take each passage literally.
I'm curious why this site claims every new member is "unsaved trash." How does anybody on this site know who is and isn't saved? Calling us trash suggests a sense of worthlessness. Not very Christ-like, wouldn't you agree?

God had the Bible written. God is with us every day. Don't you think he'd 'update' the Bible if He felt it was out of touch with todays fast paced times? Oh, really? Try to tell that to the millions of people who are enslaved today. Their masters may not be happy with these fancy ideas of yours, though.
