Hi, I am a devout Catholic, and have been since birth. I am definitely one for taking the words of God to heart, yet it seems our understanding of the scripture has been augmented. The actual trait of being left-handed is only mentioned once, that being in the story of Ehud (Judges 3:15). All other mentions of the left hand are only seen as making it lesser than the right, not evil as many of us here have thought. In Genesis 48:13-19 quoted earlier, it is said Manasseh will still be great even though Joseph's father's left hand is on his head. As you may have guessed, I am left-handed, yet I perform the sign of the cross with my right hand, and accept communion with my right hand, as I was taught this way. Even while being left-handed, I feel as if I'm actually the only one in my school refrain from drugs, and alcohol, as well as retain my abstinence, even though a very large portion of my school is Christian. I was born of two Catholic parents, and am not a bastard child. Am I still to be damned to hell, simply because I was born left-handed? It is not something you can change, it is akin to hair color, you can only mask it as something else, I will always have a genetic preference of my left hand.

I am terribly sorry if I came across as if I was trying to flame. I am actually legitimately worried on this topic, and it seemed to me that much of the bias against left-handedness on this thread was based on interpretation. I have not given much thought into handedness' role in salvation, and this caught my eye. I just found it odd that I had never been confronted about this before, seeing as all the people affiliated with my church (Assumption Catholic Church), have never mentioned it, even though they all know of my handedness. Sorry again, I had no intentions of attacking or insulting anyone.

That's weird, because the only ideas we have come straight from the Word of God, the Holy Bible Itself. Nothing else is added, nothing is taken away. You should read it sometime.

You're confused. Satan causes individuals to hate the church. Did you hear Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's comment about how the devil whispers lies into people's minds?

I was raised in church and was never taught to look down on others. We are all created equally. I go to church often and I would like to say that I am left handed. This makes me evil? I have done and seen many evil things in my life and i asked god to forgive me and to forgive those who have done unto me. I now help the troubled and helpless, the ones people have turned their backs on. So forgive me for being a little confused when you think you have the right to say this person will burn in hell. I understand you all read the bible just like most people do. It is the way you read it that controls the outcome. I believe that speaking to god is the better answer

And when you say you help people, do you mean that you let them know the only means to Salvation is to believe on the LORD Jesus, and love Him, and that by loving Him they will naturally be obedient to every command the LORD makes (John 14:15; John 15:10; James 2:10)? Please don't tell me you tell them that Jesus loves them no matter what and all they have to do is know that. There is nothing like that in God's Word, dear. Nothing. That would be a lie you tell them, and is no more helpful than teaching them to worship Satan. It will have the same effect - eternal damnation.

Don't be silly, dear. Speaking to God is of course what we do (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and we also listen to God by reading and believing what He says to us through His Living Word, the Holy Bible (2 Timothy 3:16).

Im a lefty and i try to be a good person im sort of smart i started talking at three months old and i have gone to church and love god for making me and jesus for dying on the cross.although im confused why did god make me a lefthanded freak i shouldnt have been born and im a bastard. Just like your question? I used to wet the bed everynight because shadows would sorround me and keep me up at age 12 i was molested by the neighbor and became confused about why god would let that happen and why i was bad for telling my mom made my life hard by telling everyone i gained so much self hate and embarassment and have been awkward since ive had a few girlfriends one who was my family who i still love all of them but cant be with them i had a porn addiction i stopped watching and have been better since but still i see demons that i cant explain but i will wake up to them making me choke lifting me up or making me ejaculate. I pray to god and jesus but i think that they gave up on me should i just kill myself

I was rather ashamedly left handed as a baby, but my parents forced me to do everything with my right hand, as they told me my right hand was God's preferred hand. I am thankful they beat this sin out of me.

Pleasingly, I now use my right hand for everything. May my God be pleased with me for my efforts.

Let's be honest here, the bible was written in a different time, and it was written by corruptible humans. The laws and rules of that society obviously had influence on what they wrote. The fundamental laws and teachings of Jesus are obviously real, but some of the things they say can be looked at as "influenced" by the times and place

Therefore I say, I have been left handed my entire life, and if god didn't want me this way I wouldn't be left handed. Your judged by your actions, not by which hand you do those actions.
