God gives AIDS to newborns in Africa. God allows people to abuse (torture, enslave, etc) other people. Have you ever heard of the World War II? Does Darfur ring a bell? Do your realize that every year, thousands of people (including children) are sold into slavery and abused in ways you would prefer not to know about?

How can you reconcile your Mr. Nice Guy "god" with all of the cruelty that God allows and creates?

He sent his SON, his only child, whom he must have loved dearly, to be a human, and to see us--the good, and the bad, and the ugly, and the beautiful. And then He let his Son make that choice. Jesus could have gotten off that cross, if he wanted to.

Uh, God is Jesus, so yes, I'm sure He loves Himself dearly. (Although it sounds kinda weird when you say it this way). Also, His very short suffering and temporary death was part of the plan since the beginning (since the screw-up thanks to God's finest creation, the Serpent - Genesis 3:1). So no, He could not back out. Also, He still enjoys sending millions and millions of people who died without believing in Him (John 3:18; please note that this includes children who died before they could understand religion).

He died for ME, so that I am freed of my sins, the ones I realize, and the ones I don't. THAT is my merciful God. And you can disagree, and you can throw Bible verses at me, and it will NEVER change my view. Because my God? The little I can dream to know about Him is magnificent. He is indescribable. <3 <3 <3

I hope that you'll wake up from your dream into reality, dear.

The real God is not a Mr. Nice Guy. The real God is mighty, powerful being, who creates both good and evil (Isaiah 45:7). He gives blessings to those He loves, and He enjoys sending to Hell those who displease Him (for whatever reasons - not necessarily related to faith or deeds).

We want to know you, the real you, the one who has been hurt and humiliated and found sodomy to be a preferred mind-numbing practice. We can help you find healing dear, but you must let down your defenses and let Christ in.

Okay, I feel this was very hateful. I have said nothing against your beliefs. I have said that I don't agree with them 100%, but I haven't said anything against you. I have stated facts about the LGBTQIA community. I haven't said anything that says "you should be gay". I have given facts, because if your going to hate something, at least know what your hating. Speaking of which... 'Jim Farmer' this next bit is to you.... The short bus is not generally used anymore. And when it it, it is used for people who are mentally or physically disabled, neither of which are a reason to be ashamed of yourself for. Nor is it a reason to pick on people. Pastor Ezekiel: (sorry if I spelled that wrong.) You sent me that as a private message, as well. In it, you called me a fool, 'unsaved scum,' an ass, and said that I somehow have demons in my ass. All of this is very hateful. I HIGHLY doubt that I am the first person to get this message. I wasn't debating (although that is fun) I was sharing my beliefs, with complete knowledge that none of you will change your mind or agree with me. Saying I'm insane for it is no different from an Atheist telling you you're insane.

Also, it's not really a private website. You can easily run across it in any google search, and you don't need a password to access the site. If you want this to be private, having a password would be much more effective than yelling at and shunning anyone you run across who has different views.

Hello, Life-Is-Short. You seem to have a very open, anthropological view of beliefs. I agree with you there: our beliefs are created by our culture/environment, and there are no good or wrong beliefs - each belief should be judged within its cultural context, not from an ethnocentric perspective.

Cultural relativism is great when you apply it to most aspects of culture, allowing people of different traditions to cultivate their customs without being persecuted. However, the problems arise when we look at religions. Most modern religions are mutually exclusive: they all tend to say that "we" are on the right path and everybody else is on the wrong path. In your opinion, how do you reconcile all of these contradictory ideas about God/Supernatural? If you say that all of them are equally right, that's like saying that all of them are equally wrong?...

Also, if there is one God overseeing the world, how come does He permit all the genocide, slavery, and torture done - over the ages and continuing today - in His name by followers of different religions?

I'm not trying to mock your beliefs, I'm just struggling with my own faith. I want to believe in a benevolent God, but why does He allow for so much cruelty in His name?... Does He enjoy when people kill/are killed, torture/are tortured, enslave/are enslaved in His name?.... If not, then why does He not prevent it?... If yes, is He even worthy of our adoration?... Or maybe there is no God at all and we have to solve all of our problems ourselves?...

As you can see, I'm at a very serious crossroads here. What gives you your faith?... Because I seem to have been loosing mine...
