Ahem, allow me to begin by admitting that I have, from time to time, committed the conceit of composing overly written prose.

However, with the glaring exception of the aforewritten sentence (okay, and maybe this one, too) everything that I have posted on this thread has been simplistic in the extreme. (Arrgh! I keep doing it!)

The fact that you have misread such plain, short sentences is very, very sad.

Please, note: I am calling you sad-- not me, not Mickey Mouse or anyone else.

Are you reading the Bible with such casual disregard? Actually, in that you would not be alone. Roughly 95% of the posters here have not sat down with a quiet mind and good lighting and given the Bible the serious focus it deserves.

Instead, people peruse the Bible like a menu. They pick out the parts that they like, insist on substitutions no matter how many times they encounter the "no substitutions" policy written right there throughout the menu, and they gloss over any of the difficult to accept plain statements about the nutritional content of the meals that they want to be served.

The super sweet dessert items aren't the only thing that you have to digest, diners!

What did any of that have to do with that post. No bible verse was mentioned and nothing was substituted. They were just pointing out the flaw in the last persons argument.

Look, son, The Bible King James Version 1611, is God speaking as He speaks – not as you speak. KJV1611 is the Original with nothing added and nothing taken away.

Assume you can read foreign languages; what would be better, “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” and “Mein Kampf” in the original language, or in translation?

Do you really think that a Mexican reading a Catholic Bible in Spanish is going to learn anything? Do you think He might be a Christian? How is this possible?

If you are reading from any other Bible than KJV1611, you may as well be reading Harry Potter.

ps: I don't know much about Hitler except the killing Jews stuff and that he yelled a lot when he did speeches and that we beat him in world war one or two or whatever, so I won't say anything about him and Disneyland.

Well, let me see. . . first, I was addressing the general tendancy of many people to read quickly and without understanding. Unfortunately, the majority of people that I encounter pick out a few words in a sentence--or a post--form a hasty conclusion as to its meaning and then act on that inaccurate information. Sometimes they post on a forum and sometimes they vote in an election.

As to the fact that no Bible verse was mentioned, please try to understand. The entire existance of the Landover Baptist Church is based on our deeply held conviction that the Bible must be read in its entirety and accepted as a comprehensive whole.

We want people to become intimately acquainted with its words, and to examine their every behavior and belief against its implict authority. We are confident that when carefully read and understood, the Bible's power will be shown for what it truly is. Lives can be changed then. I know that mine was.
